Wow, there's a queue to visit their website. That's the first time I've ever encountered such an online system.

    • yeah it took me a while to place an order - $45 min order for free delivery at the moment.

I gotta say that online queue is the most effective ozbargaining website traffic management system I have ever seen.

        Website traffic management? What?

It’s 2020. You build for scale at this level of commerce.

        • +1

Most websites just crash or spit out 503 errors and not let ANYONE access the website. This is the first time I see this done efficiently and effectively.

          • @Blue Cat: Quite true. It’s definitely better than a lot of smaller systems out there.

I think most AU retailers learned their lesson when events like Click Frenzy started here.

The team behind Kmarts site are likely a little embarrassed by the solution, but it’s hard to move a glacier of this size once it’s formed. I’m sure they’re working on a better solution in the background.

This sucks. The page loads up and i can see the product, then it takes me to a queue page. So I doubt this traffic nonsense. Are they trying to lose business? If your business is doing that well, invest in more band width…

    Isn't this always $29?

  • +1

Page is saying "Sorry, we're currently out of stock online"

  • I’d stick with Le Creset for quality and price

    • +5

Sounds like you bought a knock-off. The name is actually Le Creuset

  • Damn, I literally just bought a le creuset this week. If anyone has both, how does this compare?

    • Besides cost they're going to be essentially the same thing. (Coming from someone who owns a lot of le creuset)

    • +1

You'll be enjoying your Le Creuset for many years to come. I doubt the Anko will last 5 years.

Its like the boots discussion with Ozbargainers. You can't compare a pair of RM William Boots to a pair of Julius Marlow boots. RM's will last for years and can be resoled while the Julius's are throw aways.

The enameling won't be as good, but if you can live with a few chips in it for the hundreds of dollars difference, it's all good.

    • Until you start ingesting those chips

The queue is there regardless of when u enter the website. Was a huge uproar on FB the other day. They’re just pretending it’s overloaded and they are superbusy, but in reality they will lose people as it’s a farce

    • Scam to capture everyones email addresses.

Great way to kill traffic to your site.

    wtf is this is shite?

a 2-minute wait to tell me that it's OOS online

  • +2

the website told me to wait 2 minutes. i closed that browser window after 2 seconds.

i shop online for instant gratification. i'm not waiting.

  • They literally just wrote about this at Choice…

They did not recommend the Kmart dish, but it still ranked 4th and was better than some others.

The complaints were the lid knob was poor quality, bad instructions and their bolognaise sauce test left brown and burnt marks… possibly indicating the enamel isn’t as good as Le Creuset (which won at around $500) with the same lid thread complaint but better “durability”.

It does take a little bit of skill and effort to cook on enameled saucepans compared to you basic stainless steel saucepan. With enamel cookware including Le Creset, you need to be careful with polymerising on the enamel at high temperatures. This can lead to staining. Le Creset makes a Cast Iron Cookware Cleaner.

Luckily stains can be removed with 1 tablespoon vinegar, 1 tablespoon bleach, 1 cup water, simmer and scrub. The "Magic Sponge" also helps to remove stains - these sponges also remove stains from coffee and tea cups with a little bicarb.

[Pre-seasoned cast iron has already been treated and the polymerisation layer created. So you don’t need to worry about seasoning it yourself. Food sticks easily to a new bare metal pan; it must either be oiled before use, or seasoned. The coating known as seasoning is initially created by a process of layering a very thin coat of oil on the pan. Then, the oil is polymerized to the metal's surface with high heat for a time. The base coat will darken with use. This process is known as "seasoning"; the color of the coating is commonly known as its "patina".]

  • I bought one at this price about fifteen years ago and it's stood the test of time perfectly. I use it all the time. The enamel has stood up really well. The only issue I found is that the handle on the lid is not heat resistant.
Edit: Just realised the lid is slightly different mine.
