Devondale Long Life Milk 1Lx10 $16.85, 2Lx6 $20, Instant Powder 1kgx10 $88 @ Officeworks - don't think Officeworks is doing the Woolies limit of 2 if they are bundling.

Maybe you could "price match" with them on the phone!

These are far from being a deal or a good price even.

    • +3

Yes. About $1.20 in Aldi and plenty of stock in most stores.

Also, fresh milk is actually in oversupply, so why the rush for UHT milk. Last time I checked, cow's weren't coming down with Covid-19.

I said below, its like people all forget fresh milk can sit like 2 weeks in fridge.

      • Well, this tries to say our peak is in 'several days' https://archive.is/RySOt

They think that only 0.037% of the population is going to get this virus… Remember the 2009 swine flu? Not as catching as this, of course……. 16.7% of americans got that (1 in 6 estimation). These australian modelers think 1 in 2700 for this…

If we just assume just 16.7% here are going to get it, then a 0.25% death rate = 11,272 DEATHS. And they're saying not even that many people will friggen CATCH the thing… throughout the entire damn lifecycle of the virus. My personal expectations are 30-45k deaths, depending on how the anti-viral prophylaxis protocols go.

So if you believe them, yes, if you don't believe them, then that means our peak is actually July, and we are in for a lot of panic buying in the future still :\ .

I tend to buy UHT milk as we go through a bit and means we always have some on hand. I buy more than usual, as it allows me to go shopping less.

        • Same here, three kids, nearly a litre each per day, and I only shop once a week. It's 70% UHT, 30% Fresh in this house. Been that way LONG before the pandemic started :P (and it's probably the real reason I drink my coffee black).

    • Agreed. Its not cheap. You can buy a single UHT Devondale long-life milk for $1.45.

I'll save some people the time for instant powder, no stock online, and nothing in stores (VIC).

The way things are going, having the necessities in stock is reason enough to be considered a good deal ;-)
Having said that, Woolworths is OOS for Devondale Long Life Milk https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/33557/devo…
Coles is cheaper for Devondale Long Life Milk at $1.45/L https://shop.coles.com.au/a/gosnells/product/devondale-milk-…

    • In stock at my local Woolies for $1.45.

You will have much better luck buying your milk and groceries from supermarkets and your local grocer's.

Milk supplies are slowly recovering anyway, you won't have to worry about supermarkets running out of milk. Some Coles / WW's are now no longer restricting people to 2 units, increase it up to 4.

Not sure why you got negged.
      Good info!

    • Coles & Woolies wont have sales for a long time, like the milk powder it is Never $8.80 a bag

      • $5 for coles branded

            @Turd: Both are very delicious

@turk182: I had durian once and never again

              • @klownvandamn: Yeh the common durian isnt very good.. gotta get the musang king durian. Better flavour

    • But I can't seem to find eggs anywhere. Thoughts on why that might be?

      • try corner stores or IGA

      • +2

        look inside egg carton

Cheaper at IGA, and that's saying something.

Here we go again with like 60 cents more each for the 2 litre and you get 6 rather than the 2 maximum .
I haven’t seen them for 3-4 weeks at Coles/Woolies so due to the times it’s a no brainer buy if they have stock.
Main benefit is less time out there during these times for a essential item that some can’t seem to comprehend the value !

      • You do know fresh milk lasts like 2 weeks right? Like you can do a fortnightly shop and stock up then on fresh milk. Just saying.

      • Had no troubles buying them locally and as many as I like.

  • +1

How much are cows going for atm?

    • +1

Maybe once a week? How often do cows run low on cash?

  • $1.85L is more expensive than Woolies/Coles $1.45L but shelves are always empty in the past 2 weeks.

  • If you want fresh milk - it's cheaper at Maccas, $1.30 a litre through drive-thru with no apparent purchase limits (bought 3x2L - not panic buying, just large family that goes through a lot of milk).
No queue and didn't even have to get out of the car.
Also Officeworks aren't in that many locations comparatively. I have to drive half an hour.

Or I mean, if you're going in store you could always try Coles/Woolies - lots of fresh milk there that lasts 2 weeks, or reasonable quantities of long life (cheaper too).

    • But there's comment that milk from macca's is short dated?

      • Can confirm.

Went through drive through just now and got a 2L milk that's due to expire on the 8th April. Luckily the family goes through it quickly but that only gives 2 days before it goes off..

        • Expire or best before?

      • 6 days on mine I got yesterday.
Not as long as the supermarkets but it'll do until someone goes to the shop.

  • Excellent. Thanks for posting. With limits in supermarkets, this is really helpful for our household.

gouging is alive and well at OW I see

Go milk an almond and leave us be.

      • almond latte is just gross

Thank you, OP. Been looking for long life milk. It's indeed more expensive than fresh milk, but it's more convenient stock at home when we cannot buy / run out of fresh milk and unable to buy immediately.

By the way, I chose delivery instead of C&C.

  • This all sucks considering I go through on average 1L a day.

  • These must be prices to compete with Wimc/Staples, not what normal people have to pay.

  • Talk about price gouging….Liddels price is 2.5 times more than supermarkets

  • I got mine delivered yesterday very quick service!
