Protective Hazmat Suit as in Contagion

Hi there,

Does anyone know where I can buy a Protective Hazmat Suit as in the movie Contagion.

What can I try to Google??

I have seen the general hazmat suits out there, tho I am after this specific suit as worn by Jude Law.

Please see the link below for a better example,

How do you plan to take it off without also buying decontamination chamber?

  • your not one of those hygienic freaks?
so this buy has nothing to do with coronavirus?

  • If you manage to find one, make sure to post a picture

    • I havent found any results.. unless im like typing something wrong in Google

I think OP needs to come clean on what the purpose of the outfit is for. Is it a costume party. Which is not allowed at moment.

Tbh the transmission risk at party where everyone is in a hazmat suit would be low.

    • People at work have been dressing up for our video conferencing meetings.. Nobody said it has to be in person Cosplay /Cos-parties…

  • Based on the pic, it is an obsolete version of the Biosafety Level 4 (BSL4) Hazmat. Last time I saw one of those was in the early 2000.

Here's pics of what a real one used to look like and no you can't buy them.

  • For what purpose?

  • I got you, Heisenberg.

Thanks for your reply and help.

  • There there this

    • Thanks for your reply and help. Tho I don’t like the appearance of this suit

      • Well, there's a few options on gumtree. Take your pick.

  • You'll also need a source of air.

Tyvek suits are readily available. They are used by asbestos removalists, insulation installers, and sprayers of heavy duty pesticides. Also great for going to Woolies.

    • I purchased a Tyvek suit from Bunnings just in case it's ever required, but one aspect of the suit is concerning.

"Water vapor can pass through Tyvek, but liquid water cannot."
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyvek

The suit from Bunnings is classified as "microporous". If it lets water vapour through, couldn't it also let water vapour carrying coronavirus through as well?

      • Type 6 coveralls are waterproof.

If it's intended to be a crass Halloween costume later this year… don't

    • Hopefully by 31 October COVID-19 will be a thing we joke about as a bad memory. Hopefully.

There was a story about someone wearing those diving masks from the 1800's The big heavy brass things to Woolworths. What a legend

    • I didn’t know this was a thing..

  • I think you will find its just a PAPR with some plastic bags taped on….

This looks like a similar respirator:

  • My 3 year old's suggestion is to make your own with a bumbag, a raincoat and a big sistema container on your head. My wife won't let me post a pic but it's looks pretty good.

Ps: He asked me to add that the container needs to be a lot bigger than your head, otherwise it will hurt your ears when you take your "mask" off.

    Proceed at your own risk.

      That's a very smart kid.

      • Takes after his mother.

  • How much will it cost? I want one too to wear for my grocery runs.

  • Good luck finding one to buy.

  • Good luck with your purchase!
