WTF is the point if you're not going to get it until late May or early June?

    • +11

The point is to rip people off with today price. Capitalise on today price to lock in their profit as it is gauranteed the price is going to fall within 2 weeks.

      • +2

it's like shorting stock but with sanitizer 😁

    spam

    Hand Satiniser

Will make your hands smooth as silk but will do nothing to the virus.

  • +1

This earliest shipment date is this - $20 for 1L + $9.95 shipping and won't get to you until the middle of May.
If you don't need it for 6 weeks then I guess?

  • I bet the price after 6 weeks is around $5-$10 a litre

    • Price for Aqium 1L is $14.49. Doubt it will go below that for comparable volume.

  • +1

Too expensive.. It's skyway back in stock in most supermarkets from normal price.

    • +4

      Where is it in stock?

Many negs of the hand sanitiser deals say something like “easy to get at regular price” but nowhere round here (WA) has any for immediate pickup or delivery.

    • I made a list of all the hand sanitiser deals on OzB in a spreadsheet and on a unit price ($/L) comparison (shipping excluded), this company (Toymate) is the cheapest out of the rest of them. Obviously, stock availability is another variable to take into consideration. I'm just hoping that the regular supply of the Aqium stuff at chemists will return soon.

  • The market in Australia for Hand Sanitiser will be severely saturated in a few weeks time. Every man and his dog is making it, and the demand (luckily) isnt that high.

    • +5

Dogs can make this? I don’t even know how to make it.
      I’m retarded though

  • +1

Can someone tell me why one cannot buy the 1L methylated spirit for $5 from coles and make your own?

    • +2

I do and it is fine, Metho in Australia no longer has methyl alcohol in it, it has a bittering agent, so you know afterwards is you put your fingers to you mouth.

I mix a small amount of a moisturizing gel into the metho and a little water as well. metho is 95% ethanol, so need to keep it above 70% with what you mix. the small amount of water helps it not evaporate so quickly so it is more effective than pure metho.

I notice bunnings no longer lists metho in their catalog.

      • +1

I just bought a bottle yesterday. Can you list the ingredients and the amount and the steps to make some please. So it is over 70% alcohol.

        • +2

the moisturizer is up to what you have at hand, Aloe vera gel is the common one, the WHO recipe uses glycerin (cheapest), I have an aftershave balm gel that I use. The WHO recipe also uses peroxide, but that is unnecessary as it there to sanitize the water used (for at risk countries).
The mix is a liquid, not a gel, so a small bottle with a flip lid is ideal.
Say the bottle is 200 ml in size (adjust the ratio to what ever size you are making), add 20 ml of moisturizer substance, Add 20 ml of water, then fill with methylated spirits (should be 160ml). this should then end up at about 75% concentration.

main thing to remember is this is for use when you are out and cant easily wash your hands. Food you eat or handle will taste terrible due to the bittering agent, but is not toxic.

          • @krust4554: So it’s ok even if the one from coles is 95% ethanol?

        • lucky you, I've been looking for methylated spirit for 2 weeks and no luck. WW, Coles, Aldi, Bunnings all empty

      • The water is actually also necessary for it to disinfect well, 100% alcohol is not as effective as 70%.

  • Release Date in 4 weeks. No deal

  • Toymate are the worst.

  • Any sanitizer which is not made in china?

  • The pricing seems ok. Don't forget they also do bulk price there. There are two brands on offer, which one do you guys think better?

    • Would you rather shipment in 6 weeks or 8 weeks?

      • Won't matter which one really. Most likely just buy a little bit, 2-3 litre.

        • 2-3 litres is a lot to buy now when there’s a 6 or 8 week opportunity for prices to converge back towards their natural level.
          Simple supply and demand.
There’s places with stock now. There certainly will be in 6 weeks.

  • They are going to use the money to make the sanitiser.

  • Sure why not advertise a rip-off price for the Corona virus vaccine as well, to be delivered early 2021

  • Take peoples money at inflated prices to make and deliver a product no longer relevant when it finally arrives.

    Hardly a deal.
