Save on heating. Wear it indoors.

    • +3

      It actually works!

  • +1

I'm wearing mine right now (office is cold). Love it.

    • How dare you leave your house lol

      • +3

        Home office perhaps?

        • Not sure why where my place of employment is even relevant to this discussion, thanks ozbargain police??

As for how I dare to leave my house, I work an essential job at a hospital and I still have to go to work.

          • -4

            @Somni:

I work an essential job at a hospital

in an office. a cold office. probably isolated, cold office.

            FrontLiner

@deck_oz: I am fortunate that my current role doesn’t involve direct patient interaction.

A lot goes on behind the “front line” at a hospital. You are fortunate enough to not have need/have already gained full comprehension of that.

              Take care of yourself.

yet here you are at ozbargain working on your "essential" task, at five in the morning, eh ? bored at work ?

                • +2

@deck_oz: Who shat in your weetbix?

Are you actually debating the fact that a hospital functions with more than just clinical staff?

          • +2

@Somni: Lol it was a tongue in cheek comment, no disrespect!

          • @Somni: It's a joke mate, chill out.

  • Mine was stolen after TSA inspected my bag at JFK on my recent return to Australia. Mightily pissed off. They're now of course ignoring my emails asking for reimbursement of same.

    • -4

Why would they offer you a reimbursement?

    • could it have been the baggage handler and would travel insurance cover that (do you need a police report to prove that it's stolen)?

    • Has this happened to you on multiple occasions? Do you find the TSA in America very dodgy and have a tendency to steal stuff from checked in luggage?

      • +2

On my last US trip I think I finished up with 4 separate cards telling me TSA had opened my bag… don't think they fleeced anything. I still wonder what it was that they were so interested in - probably the 1kg bag of Redskins….

  • I love my hooded Halo. Love it so much I bought a spare.

  • Do they run large, small, or they're true to size?

    • +1

They run slightly large in my experience.

      • Ta

        • Im 178cm, 68.5kg, i wear small. it runs one size larger.

    • +3

At least a size large. And the arms are longer than you would think necessary. My Halo is a small, I wear a medium to large in other brands.

      • I like the longer arms. If it’s cold you push them over your hands, and also helps for covering hands holding up umbrellas.

        • Just checked mine. I bought large, I'm usually extra large. My hands can be covered by the sleeves without much effort. I'd strongly suggest buying down a size.

          • @SonOfATightASS: So do you think these sizes are accurate for this jacket, or if I usually wear a large jacket I should go down to medium? Tia

            • @AussieDaddy: If you usually wear large definitely go to medium and you will still feel like it's not small on you.
I bought this jacket under the same guidance from other Ozbargainers and their advice was spot on.

              • @SonOfATightASS: Thanks. I am just little bit worried about the sleeve length and the waist size if I go down to a medium. I still have some weight to lose in my waistline and have disproportionately longer arms. I would have tried one on but it's showing that no local store has stock. I might just go ahead and get the medium. If push comes to shove I'll return it for an exchange (if they're still in stock then, or for a refund) and get PayPal to pay for the return shipping cost.

      • Cheers

        • It's like wearing a hug. (profanity) amazing.

      • Agree with other comments, that is you usually wear medium get small.

      • In the pictures, it's evident that the sleeves are longer than the model's arms — just look at the elbow folds. It's not a bad thing for a winter jacket (especially when there's a sleeve tightening cuff); just means you can cover your hands too if needed!

    • +1

I went true to size for my non hooded one last year.

  • Great jacket.

  • How does this compare to Kathmandu eqip men's down jacket?

    • Less over-priced. Other then that this is probably better on all fronts, or at least the same.

    • I have both and macpac has better quality overall

  • If i wear a Small size of Kathmandu, what would be the equivalent size in Macpac please?

    • +2

      xs. You’re welcome

      • Thank you 😊

    • i wear xs kathmandu is the same with this brand??

      • +7

You need to look in the kid's section in that case.

  • just my luck, paid $149 on weekend
    great jacket though
does run slightly larger than a few others i tried on in store

  • Thanks! Got one.

  • Getting it for my partner. Any male fashionista here with strong opinions on the black olive/vetiver?

    • +1

Personally I prefer the olive. Blacks probably the safer option if you’re unsure.

      • +1

Thanks for your fashion advice. I felt so too. Sometimes the colour combo can cut a torso and look odd though.
Anyhow, I've checked with the man and we've decided to skip this offer as I may be losing my job soon.

        • +1

No worries. Hope the work situation works out for you.

    • +1

      Once you go black…

      • +2

        You will go back

  • ordered one! But didn't get an email confirmation immediately. Anyone else have the same issue? Also couldn't seem to forget password…

might be a slow online system…

    • Yep same for me, waiting for email

      • i received an email this morning

  • +4

Slightly off topic but this can be had for $129. Lowest price ever , maybe

    https://www.kathmandu.com.au/campaigns/further-reductions/ep…

    • +7

I'd take a Macpac of anything over a Kathmandu of anything, any day.

    • +2

Don't forget the $20 Voucher from the recent Summit deal, which brings it down to $109

    • +1

550 loft vs 600, macpac wins

    • Macpac wins on fill, style and sustained success of the Halo.

    • +1

Still run a size smaller in the ladies version?

      • I'm usually a small in jackets. I found the small to be too short in the arms and tighter around the shoulders so I went for the medium instead. Definitely a better choice and it means I can layer underneath if need be.

        • Well, this arrived today and I went a whole size smaller anyway and it is still a bloody parachute. And the arm length is super long, even for my lanky 5'10" gf.

  • +1

worth it! took it to the states over christmas time and kept me nice and warm! very light to travel with as well

  • +1

Thanks just bought one. Good find.

  • +1

This things so warm and comfortable I tell you that you will sweat with it on at close to freezing temperatures

  • is this unisex?

    • There is a women's and men's version

  • The legendary Halo down jacket — now with a hood.

    Also now $30 more expensive.

Otherwise good jacket, very warm during winter.

    • There has always been the two versions… with different prices of course.

    • I think the only time the Halo Hooded has been posted here for $99 was back in January 2019 deal From Rays? The second cheapest deal was $112 deal from MacPac, but it was an ugly green color.

  • +3

please dear lord not another winter of puffer jackets…..when will it end…..my poor eyes

    • Oh no, not another day of wear people wearing clothes!

  • I am a bit confused regarding what people mean when they say a size down.

I measured myself with a tape and according to the sizing guide on the MacPac site I am medium.

Does that mean I should order a small?

Is that what people mean by a size down?

Or do they mean if I am a medium with another brand I should order a small for this jacket?

    Thank you!

    • +1

Or do they mean if I am a medium with another brand I should order a small for this jacket?

yeah, most people find that it's better to order one size smaller than your usual size, in your case a small.

      • Okay awesome. Thanks for the info and for saving me from a poor fitting purchase!

That's so confusing that they would put out a sizing chart on their products which we shouldn't follow.

        • +1

i think it's more for people that are accustomed to a 'standard sizing'

for example, when i buy clothes I often buy a Large, but sometimes a Medium for a snugger fit. So I'll size down for this jacket and make sure I buy a Medium

          • @pHyR3: Oh okay. Thanks for the info.

Just so I understand you correctly - if I used the macpac sizing guide on the website next to the jacket and it gives me a medium (99cm chest MEDIUM, 105 cm hip LARGE, 92 waste LARGE) -> What would be the best option -> By that I would by a medium?

I have a Colombia jacket that I wear Medium > By that I would buy a small?

            • @fd9: I'm generally a medium for a comfortable fit, and a small for snug fit to expose my WFH beer gut :( . But with this jacket (non hooded) i can wear a tshirt, a fleece, a beer gut and still fit a small. So i got the small hooded version this time

              • @pippohippo: Thanks for the info pippo :) I'll grab the small!

Tell me about it - so hard to stop procrastieating from home.

              • @pippohippo: Mind to share your height & weight? I am 6ft tall and weigh 85kg (with a belly, unfortunately lol) so I am thinking to get a medium, not sure if that will fit me.

                • @AussieDaddy: 5ft 8, i do not dare to weigh myself now. I was around 75kg 2 years ago lol. But it still fits!

  • +4

So good. I look forward to looking like every Ozbargainer during winter.

  • +1

Cheers been waiting for the hooded verson to go on sale, sick of the kathmandu one

  • Wish they had the navy coloured option…

  • Hi,

Anyone got email after order? I made an order and everything was good. Just wonder why there is no email about the order.

    • check your junk folder?

  • Anyone have any idea how these would go with a light spray of silicone waterproofing?

  • First time Macpac buyer.
Small olive (78kg 182cm, fingers crossed correct size!).
    Thanks

    • You may want to change it to larger.

      • +1

Received. Can confirm it fits like glove. Was nervous with sizing but small is definitely the right size. I put it on for the first time at 5.30pm, have not yet taken it off. Ahhhh!
        Happy with Olive colour too.

  • Could there be an ever better bargain around Easter?

  • Anyone found any coupon codes that can stack on top of this? Or cashback?

  • I do not recommend puffer with a hood…you will never going to use because it's just plain ridiculous.

    • Can you be more specific re the ridiculousness? I'm super curious.

      • Despite a puffer jacket being not the most fashionable item ( words from misus), the hood is terribly ugly. it also dangle unused most of the time. Why !? They usually are not in place/design correctly to avoid the rain in your face as other jackets.

  • Still waiting for mine… ordered this the day OP posted the deal :(
