That would appear to be the RRP and also the price it can be bought from Amazon AU. Given this is OzBargain not OzAdvertising where is the bargain?

    • +1

RRP is normally $479 This is a current promotion. You will see that RRP in Europe for these is 299 EURO!

      • It looks like it's a promotion price that's available from a few retailers then, are you offering any incentive to buy through your company? You have not mentioned shipping costs, are they included?

        • We have free shipping! We are alerting you this bargain, as no other resellers are offering it yet. Beyerdynamic sells also direct on Amazon. You can give your money to an american corporation, or a local business like us.

  • Can this be connected via the USB C cable to a PC ? i.e. non-BT
Need to use it with a desktop (with no BT) for Skype, Teams and other videoconferencing software
Practically all Jabra headsets are sold out, even the higher end ones and this might be my next choice

    • Yes can be connected and used via the included USB-C cable as well

      • Right, or I might just get a BT dongle which I've been meaning to do anyway
Will go order one now, hope it can be sent express, only next suburb at 2065, as I need it next week for work

        Annnd done. Ordered

  • I think It would be more practical, cheaper to get Bluetooth headset if you are going to work alone. Something like plantronics Voyager 5200

You could walk around the room, use it in the car , and I think it will sound better since the mic will be closer to the sound source.

    • True, and I did look at that model and several others as well. Seems it can only be worn on the right (my left is the good ear) and I really really need something that can be delivered by early next week for telehealth. Sick of the crappy laptop mics and audio

      • You can pivot the speaker and wear it in left or right ear

      • I've tried a load of options:

        The good ones:
        - Jabra Evolve 40 - this is not wireless but is amazing in terms of mic and sound quality. The remote on the cable is also awesome. This has by far the best mic out of everything I've tried.
        - Jabra talk 45 - equal second mic (but fairly far behind the Evolve), good sound, very portable, wireless and can connect to your laptop and phone at the same time.
        - Logitech C930 webcam - Equal second mic and also had video which is good. I use it for its video but use one of the above two for mic and sound.
        - Sennheiser Presence - Terrible mic and uncomfortable. I can't believe Sennheiser charged as much for this as they did

If you want a great Bluetooth headset with a great mic (mic quality is often the main issue) then the Plantronics Voyager 4220 seems to be the best value. I also looked at the Voyager 6200 but the YouTube mic tests don't seem to come out very well.

        • Cheers for the reviews. I tried to get the Evolve 40 2 weeks ago, ordered from Dell, crickets for 1 week, chased them up and was told stock in ? May. Tried various Ebay and Amazon listings - All out of stock, place on backorder or incredulous prices.

Moved up the models to the 65, 75 and even the 80. Headsets looking bigger and bigger as you go up, prices too. All out of stock, minimum wait of 2 weeks even for the Evolve 80 at $420 ! Essentially the entire Jabra range is out of stock in Australia

Looked at Plantronics. Again most out of stock.

At this stage I've spent the best of 2 nights after work reading reviews on a model, trying to order, out of stock, looking at another model. Rinse and repeat. I've got better things to do with my time, like some precious sleep… Hence this speakerphone - Looks decent, no bulky headphones (still do want to look professional) and IT IS IN STOCK. As long as I don't sound like I'm breathing helium on it its fine, its not like I'm serenading the patients.

Wish me luck, next step is choosing a teleconference software, Zoom has too many vulnerabilities.

My friend; first, thank you for your efforts during such a scary time.
I'm glad TeleHealth was made a thing so you can stay safe :)

        Secondly:
        https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/jabra-spea…

These are INCREDIBLE, there is zero echo for the caller, the speaker is loud enough to fill an entire boardroom (ours was only 20 people, but still) and it supports bluetooth AND USB connection.

I mean, it's still a mono speaker so you can't expect miracles, but it's easily clearer than a mobile phone earpiece (let alone speakerphone), and the battery live was brilliant (perhaps pick up a $5 power bank while you're there, if you need it wireless longer).

I hope I don't guide you wrong, but we used these in our company for $100k+ deciding meetings, and nobody had any form of complaints (in fact, several executives preferred it over our $5k in-ceiling audio system with omni drop-down mics….).

Best of luck, and thank you.

        • Cheers for the kind words. Its mainly to keep the patients safe, most of mine are immunocompromised. I'm frontline, but not as frontline as the GPs and ED/ICU, but still hospital based

The above speaker is out of stock (in Sydney anyway). Anything with Jabra in its name is out of stock from the mad WFH rush.
Reviews for the Phonum look decent, and with the speakers at least I don't look like there's tumours growing out of my ears

            @Pesty: Yeah, seems you're right.
I had local stock when i posted; not anymore.

OK then, i'm a bit of an audio buff; since you'll be able to wear headphones at your desk, i suggest a desktop mounted microphone from BLUE.

They're available at JB and Officeworks.

If you want to splash out, the Yeti is amateur studio quality.

Otherwise the Snowball is crystal clear voice quality like you'd hear on a professional blog.

If it doesnt need to be wireless, a dedicated mic + earphones will be best.

Or, does your PC have bluetooth? Im quite anti-apple, but there's no denying AirPods sound good, and are available at a LOT of places.

Im thankful for you guys; i have a 9 week long chest infection that shows zero results on a swab (starting to think its fungal; i was cleaning mould while i had the flu…); so since i have to isolate, being able to talk to pros via video calls is priceless.

Im a network engineer, and general IT nerd by trade, if you need any help computer wise, hit me up.

  • Just one other comment here. If you made this $300 somehow then it would fall under the $300 tax deduction threshold.
