Building My First PC General Questions

Hello,

I am currently shopping for PC parts on pccasegear and I have some questions if anybody could help me.
My wishlist:
https://www.pccasegear.com/wish_lists/1054983/Probably

The main thing I was wondering is whether with covid-19 and how shitty bthe australian dollar is at the moment is it worth getting these parts for this price. Second question is are there any parts I should be changing for better price-quality ratio as I am aiming for somehwere round $1,000.

Note: the hard drive I have on my wishlist isn't the one I'm getting, same model but 1TB off ebay.

I'm assuming you're using it for gaming.

Bundle doesn't really seem worth it. I recommend Ryzen 1600 AF / B450 Tomahawk MAX / G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB 3600 MHz ram for about 20 dollars more.
    - Ryzen 1600 AF is equivalent to the 2600 but cheaper.

You can probably find the RX580 8GB VRAM for the same price you have listed on the wishlist.

I'm a big fan of the Corsair RMx/CMx PSUs, slightly more expensive but much better than the toughpower.

Would not recommend a SSHD - either get like a Crucial MX500 1TB for the same price OR just get a 2TB HDD version for around $100.
    - If you already got the SSHD well next time I wouldn't get it. I don't think anyone would recommend it. SSD boot + HDD storage is always a good duo.

I am personally not a big fan of the TechFast builds but it's good but I prefer better quality parts all round.

    yeah get techfast 3500x + gtx1660 for 800 with 400 leftover for ram/ssd upgrades

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/526444

    1660 performs around rx590 level

  • Is it worth it? You have to ask yourself do you really need the PC or can you make do with what you have?

Some are saying prices are going to get worse.

Use the AMD Wraith Stealth CPU cooler.

Swap the SSHD to an SSD + HDD.

A semi modular PSU is nice to have. Less cable clutter and easier to build.

  • look at the techfast options..
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/techfast.com.au

the $788 deals have same cpu gaming performance(1600AF) or better (3500x) then your 2600

the GTX1660 is 30% better then the RX570

    and you save about $400…

  • Highly recommend just getting a techfast build and DIYing your own upgrades (RAM / Storage)

    I spent around $750-$800

Got the 1660 (Got upgraded to a 1660 Super for free :D )
    16GB RAM
    240GB SDD
Upgraded via TF for the B350 Mobo

Upgraded myself an m2 hard drive

Trust me, you're gonna want an SSD. You could get all the bells and whistles in a PC but if you still have a HDD the performance will be terrible and even more so once you start using swap. That SSHD is bogus, a 64mb cache will do nothing to increase performance especially when gaming. ADATA SSDs are very cheap but I haven't heard good things about them, I bought a Samsung 820pro in 2013 and it's still running fine = you get what you pay for.

If you don't get an SSD this time round I strongly recommend that it be your next upgrade in this PC.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback,

I ended up going for the techfast build with a few upgrades.
