It's a trap. Mix it with 60% alchohol at safer side

  • +41

I love it when companies try to get on the bandwagon but don't have a product that suits, that requires contact during a health crisis and with a product that will expire if not in the fridge in time…

Chobani would be better off literally donating the money to a worthy organisation, it'd at least enable them to claim it on their tax and it'd give them a bit of publicity… what the hell are they trying to achieve with this?

If they absolutely had to get rid of their product then it'd be better off getting distributed to hospitals, nursing homes and food banks…

What the hell are they thinking?

    • +1

      Well said :)

    • you speak the people's mind

    • +1

A promotional stunt that in fact puts delivery drivers at risk for a trivial amount of food. The cost of distribution alone would be better spend on an innumerable number of things.

    • +1

They are building a massive name & address database, for their own marketing, or resale purposes.

    • +1

Agreed - when I read this at first I assumed it was something like an email voucher for someone to redeem at the shops which is still a little inappropriate but I guess a lot of us still need to head to the supermarket for groceries once a week. I am surprised to see it's delivered…..

      • +2

Yes a numbered or barcoded email voucher to exchange for a pot at a supermarket would be better for all concerned.

    • +5

They have their own vans and used to deliver free yogurt to offices and sporting clubs (we have had them a couple of times).

No office or sporting clubs to deliver to now so just using their own van, keeping the driver employed, and distributing the yogurt that would otherwise have gone there.

      • i've seen them at my office a couple of times too and they were real close to the expiry date (some flavours only had a couple of days left), i would try them for free but i will not buy them at supermarkets …

  • +3

I've upvoted worse deals before, but something about this rubs me the wrong way. Why the hell would I post yoghurt to someone who didn't know it was coming? This is clearly nothing but an ad.

    • +5

"Why the hell would I post yoghurt to someone who didn't know it was coming"

This is not a sentence I ever expected to read.

      • Mate I'm still reeling from having to type it. Crazy world huh

    • +1

Why the hell would I post yoghurt to someone who didn't know it was coming?

i'm guessing that they are smart enough to know that "someone" is yourself

  • +3

This is not a deal. Maybe a competition?

  • how many ozbargainers on here? 50k?

  • +2

sweet, love a good tasty lumpy warm yogurt.

    • +4

      That's what she said

      • 🤣 haha yeah… My mum does love yogurt.

  • +6

It's a competition rather than a deal, your nomination may not be successful.

Also, depending on how they are delivering the yogurt, why are we putting a further strain on our logistics system when it can be used for far better purposes?

    • It's just good PR for them really, they're looking out for those people "hitting it tough".

      • They'll be hitting the toilet bowl after eating soured yoghurt…

  • 50,000? Let's see if this gets Ozbargained lmao

  • +10

Wow…am i missing something? Free food delivered (potentially) and so much hate. All the other delivery deals out there via Amazon etc. no probs but this one is an issue? Wanna talk unnecessary deliveries…tablets, headphones, shoes, etc. are they really required during this pandemic? I agree, i'd like to see food with a shelf life go to poor/needy etc. but i'm assuming that was the idea here. Choose someone that lost a job, requires food. And never mind the fact doing these deliveries could keep drivers in a job. I sense some real double standards here.
Have an upvote from me OP.

    • If it was a pet food company offering a free 1kg bag to keep pets fed? Then go for it! If it was a fruit box company? Go for it!

What the 'beef' is, is the fact it needs to be thrown in the fridge ASAP! It's not shelf-stable and isn't necessary at the moment. Just saying… that if I needed food in a crisis my last thought would be yoghurt… the fact they are willing to spend so damn much doing individual deliveries to people… why am I bothering?

  • +1

What happens if they're not home?
Tub 'o yog on the doorstep? :/

    • +1

And reported to Police for not isolating at home.

    It's a competition
    Terms and Conditions = https://www.facebook.com/notes/chobani/chobani-yogurt-delive…

    • Thanks. I expected that to be on the form itself. I filled out the form (which has no validation whatsoever other than checking for non-blank fields) to try to find the T&Cs and never found them.

    • +2

Those appear to be for a different comp:
"13. The best valid entry as determined by the judges, will win 4 cases of Chobani yogurt valued at $64 RRP."

They are a huge supporter of charities, they give away a dozen pallets of them every week at the Heart and Soul group in SA.

  • +2

I actually got a delivery of this yesterday! 32 tubs of Chobani! YUM!

    • Am also expecting a delivery this week, anything to be aware of at delivery time? Or is it just a straight answer the door and collect your yoghurt?

      • +1

I just answered the door, they actually came on a Sunday…

  • I actually received this today here in VIC

  • I received an email saying my nomination was approved, but I know not which one I nominated will receive lol.

    • Both parties I nominated received 32 tubs of yoghurt each. Both said long use by dates and very delish! Lovely surprises for both. Thank you Chobani. 😉👍

  • I swear I saw a guy park outside my house and deliver a few of these, of course not to my house though 😭

  • +2

I nominated a front line health worker and her whole family was so overwhelmed with joy that apparently tears were shed. Thanks again for the post.

  • +1

Omg I just got this from a friend! So much yoghurt… It certainly made me happy!

  • Damn never got me yoghurt…

  • +3

I won…but no recollection of who I nominated. So….someone's getting mystery yoghurt!

    • +1

I had nominated 2 people but received just the one email, so I had no idea who was to receive them… they both did!

  • +1

I won. Delivery is 25th May. Hmm I think I nominated my Mum

  • +2

My wife just got 32 pots delivered! Thanks OP.

  • +2

I won too! My boss got the surprise delivery of 32 little pots. Apparently there was a note that said it was from a "loved one" (definitely don't remember saying that) & eyebrows were raised haha.
    Thanks OP

  • +2

My wife was lucky enough to get this from my nomination.

  • +1

My kids won from my nominations… it was a very yummy couple of weeks at breakfast time.

  • +1

Wow also received, was expecting it to be a small tub. Really caught me off guard thought they delivered to wrong person.

  • +1

Saw an email yesterday saying we won and the delivery will be on Monday the 26th of May. Wasn’t holding my breath for it though as the typo was off putting..

Good thing i had today off, heard the delivery guy coming up the driveway and told my wife someones at the door for her. She was very confused why a man with 32 yogurts was asking if it was her name haha

Anyway, thats breaky sorted for a couple of weeks.

Thanks op and thankyou guardian of the yogurts

  • I just received an email saying congratulations, your nomination has been accepted and they'll be receiving a surprise of Chobani today (Sorry for the late notice, also this delivery cannot be rescheduled).

  • +1
