    Showing $11.90/kg for me..

  • beans are now at end/peak of the season and cheap, I picked up half a kilo at IGA for just over 2 bucks,

Ahh poop. Just ordered 4 kg at $5/kg

      Shouldn't have bean so hasty

  • They've been $2 at my local woolies since Monday. Very fresh and crunchy.

I'm not sure why they've suddenly plummeted in price. Obviously excess supply, but why?

    • People panic buying non perishables perhaps?

  • Don't like beans? Try these battered and fried.

    Example

      • Add some cinamon sugar, and you're set.

    Gone! Ozbargained

  • C&C anyone?

  • $9.90 a kg here.

  • 11.90 is crazy, always hate having to fork out this much for beans. Good to know there’s some decent margins being made normally 🙄

    • All vegetable prices are crazy at the moment, in fact for over 6 months. Broccoli 🥦 regularly over $10, capsicums almost $10.

      Thank God for carrots 🥕.

      • +3

        We don't deserve carrots

        • Now im curious about your vegetable heirachy.

          What do we deserve?

Woolworths fruit and vegetable prices are sky high all year round. I am a big user of coriander and I buy it for 89c a bunch from local asian store. It is fresher and lasts longer than the $3.50+ stuff that Colesworths sell. Same with lettuce, you can usually find an Iceberg lettuce for between $1-$2 whereas the supermarkets will have it at $3-$5 each. Much better value to be had by shopping at smaller stores. Harris Farm is another good place to shop, most stuff is very expensive but you can find a bargain in the imperfect picks and weekly specials. For example in January they were selling a 15x punnet tray of strawberries for $4.99. Fresh and beautiful, I froze most and only just finished them off last week.

      • Aldi has living potted herbs for $3 which is a better option than woolies /Coles.

But yes, for corriander, basil, lemon grass etc…. Asian grocers are 50 to 80% cheaper.

  • Was 4.90$/Kg at Coles Five Dock on Monday.

I think all the people who stockpiled food are now overflowing and can't buy more. Thus stores have surplus perishable food now. Saw mince beef going for $4/kg regular mince and $8/kg premium mince at Coles. They had a fair amount but would not last long as it was being snapped up.

  • Seems like hoarders made this product out of stock too. :)

    • I wish I were born 50 years in the future sitting in history class learning about how the great pandemic of 2020 causing a shortage of toilet paper, alcohol, beans and Nintendo Switches

    As opposed to beans squared?

jokes aside, is that what these are actually called?

  • They don't look very round…

  • Shows 3.90/kg for me but that's still better than 11.90/kg

    • Better than the $6.90 it shows for me.

I wouldn’t touch these , I watched a Chinese lady touch almost every bean available searching for that perfect bean -to put on her basket
with a bare hand - I videoed it. She saw me video it and carried on - with a smile.
Made me sick thinking about how much virus she could potentially be leaving on these beans
Multiply that by every other inconsiderate person touching them needlessly.
I showed the video to the manager in neutral bay, he didn’t give a sh*t
I suggested providing gloves - he said woolworths is against plastic waste!
I pointed out the weight of a plastic gloves glove is like a feather compared to the plastic junk inside someone’s typical basket of goods - the logic was lost on him completely
The greenies at woolies would rather make people sick
(I get you should wash your beans - it’s the contamination and very visible handling of fresh produce that makes me reflex)

You videoed someone you were the crazy person no wonder he was like wtf…

    • +1

You need to put a plastic bag over your head

    • holly Sh!t, how do you know she is Chinese? Can you tell different Asians? Your prejudice damaged your brain which virus won't. Plastic gloves? where is your green earth slogan?
