How many file managers say this, "File manager is the best file explorer,"

    • Hopefully all of them. I imagine the people designing it design it how they want it, hence the best

      • +6

I don't know, I think I'd be quite happy to install an app where the developers said "It works well for us, might be useless for you, but give it a try."

  • +2

    Just use fx

  • +3

Pretty sure CX File Explorer does all this for free with no ads or IAPs

    • The best so far

    • Would be my recommendation too.

      • +1

That's the best. But no harm in adding this to the library

  • TotalCommander. No need for anything else.

  • Thanks OP my Xiaomi file manager started playing up. Plus I think it shows ads?

  • +7

    I use Solid Explorer.

    Worth paying for.

    • +1

Big fan of Solid Explorer here too. Though the XDA guys are amazing too. For something that's free, I'd pick the MiXplorer.

  • +1

Thanks grabbed it for the family library.

I use X-plore File Manager which I prefer but I think this is installed on some of our other devices (the non-pro version) so will update those.

  • Does this do true cut & paste or fake copy-paste-delete ? Makes a big difference when moving large files around.

    • How does true copy and paste work then? I thought it all works like that? Unless some do it file by file in a batch copy instead of deleting all at the end.

      • True cut & paste doesn't copy the file per se. I know Solid Explorer does true, moving a 600mb file within the same sd card takes 2 seconds as opposed to 60 seconds for most other file managers.

        • so it just repoints the file to the directory.

          • @serpserpserp: Essentially yes, I've tried a number of file managers and only found a couple which had this function.

  • any reason why not to use solid explorer ? it's the most mature AFAICT

  • Isn't the Xiaomi File Manager the best?

  • Which file manager would be best to manage auto sync of camera folder with google drive?

  • +3

What is wrong with the one that comes with your phone?

    • Personal preference regarding interface and usability. I rather use Solid explorer all the time instead of getting used to a new file explorer with each new phone.

Plus other features, Solid explorer and extract APKs for example which saves having another separate app for.

    • +3

My one can't browse my network share.

    • Just having a quick look, this seems a bit more feature-rich.

Lots of file sharing tools and junk data management, but yeah I've been getting by just fine with the default manager.

  • +1

It seems I will end up having more files managers on my phone than the files to be managed. Already got 4.

    • -2

I believe when this happens you win life.

  • What do you guys use on android tv?

    • I use AnExplorer. X-Plore File Manager is also good if you're OK with the interface

  • +1

Any of these also have root explorer?

  • I start up ES File Explorer for the first time in 6 months … 5 mins later get a Chinese language voiced robo-call (from Australian mobile number) … Coincidence!?

    • +3

It's terrible spamware, so not really surprising.

    • +3

This is still my go to file explorer on all my phones and media players. Just make sure you use version 4.0.2.3 (before the original company sold it) and don't ever update. Find this version APK and side install it.

Fast, compact, no ads and browse network shares well.

  • Hmm. Why does this app ask for permission to appear on top?

I can't fathom a reason and it's a feature which can be exploited by malware

  • +1

    The link says "Not Found".

  • Can I save Pr0n incognito to all the above folders?
