What to Do with Excess Ethernet Switch

Hi guys
I've managed to make an incorrect purchase of 6 TL-SG1024 24-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch. I was supposed to buy only 1 however made a mistake at checkout. Now I have 5 of the TL-SG1024 just lying around and I am not sure what to do with them as the seller I've bought it from does not accept returns. Any ideas?

  • Sell for $100

    • How do I find people who would use them :(

      • Advertise your offer on the usual platforms.

  • Lol, wouldn't you have noticed the amount to pay at checkout?

Wasn't really paying attention >.< Haha

  • Give one to me?

  • Give the excess away to family and friends.

sell them, ebay, gumtree, facebook market place.

  • As above just sell them. Only need to sell them to a few people

  • Leave them sealed and advertise them on platforms you'd normally use to sell items on.

Gumtree (preferably sell them pickup from work or a public place for safety) would be my first preference.

Switches aren't exactly great sellers, so it may take you a while to move them all.

  • Use eBay, they currently have a sell five items without fees offer.

After that you can use Gumtree to post on eBay again twice a month and have the same deal, no fees.

  • Definitely go sell them on Gumtree, Facebook marketplace, eBay etc. as you're bound to sell them. I'm always browsing those to improve my homelab.

    • These unmanaged switches will make for a boring home lab. Everybody gets full marks as long as they don't create a loop.

I once attended a LAN party and near the end when people were starting to pack up someone thought an Ethernet cable dangling from the switch was unsightly, and so he plugged the loose end into a spare port. That was fun, not!

      • They're more fun if they have PoE. I personally use Alloy that some RSPs use for their backbone and HPe for the managed.

LAN parties were a bit before my time unfortunately. I attended like 2 of them and they were the best thing ever.

  • You can try selling them on the FB marketplace & gumtree but it would be quite difficult - most people simply buy used for $10-$50 instead of buying new from us. I am still trying to sell some with little-no luck.
If possible I would avoid eBay (auctions) as it may cause you to lose money (fees, low winning bid, shipping, etc)
