Agreed, they are still in the nice to have but slightly too expensive category..

Props to MWave for being the cheapest on staticice for all of the above drives plus free shipping.

I notice your prices here are cheaper than what is listed under staticice. Might be worth updating that

    • Thanks Colbalt_ I double checked the deal on static ice before I posted.

The staticice will updated it probably tonight when they scrap our site =P

      • Scrapping your site? Did you do something to upset SI? ;)

hmm thanks for the neg vote whoever did that….

Also remember that if you had registered for the latest Amex Promotion (link below) - if you spend $250 or more you get $50 cash back… and Mwave is on the list :)

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50042

So you could get a Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD shiped for $219… and that is real tempting!!

    • I dont hv amex :(

      • Or a couple more vowels apparently.

  • Other brand SSD's are cheaper and better. Eg Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SSD
Static Ice from $205 and the IOPS are better then the kingston.

    • Force3 is using Asynchronous NAND which means that the write and read would be lower than the Kingston one synchronous NAND
you may found that they seems hv similar performance but its only limited in compressed data
in normal usage, its most likely to be uncompressed data, so synchronous NAND is much better

    • The bare drives may be so-so, but the upgrade kits are pretty solid value imo, especially if you can use the amex promotion.

      • I wont pay $20 juz for a migrate software and useless 2.5" case

        • Perhaps I should restate that: The bare drives may be so-so but if you have a use for the extras, then the upgarde kits are pretty solid value imo, espcially if you can use the amex promotion.

What person A values may be different to what person B values. Useless to you doesn't necessarily mean useless to everyone else. I quite like the way Kingston's put together that kit.

  • I've got one of these drives, massive upgrade from my old Intel G2 SSD, fastest SDD drive at the moment with a great price
