Think this one was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of quality, but thought I would post for those out there interested.

Why?
They promised backers a DRM free version of the game, then epic games bought it out and made it epic games exclusive so these backers who singlehandedly brought the game to life were forced to use epic games shitty client to play it. Iirc they refused refunds too
Epic Games complaints are so overblown.
"Oh no! I have to install another launcher! Capitalism might not be the best system for us after all!! I'm only realising this now!!!"
What happened?
Mix of things. The whole Epic Games Launcher thing. The emails were exhausting. The lack of progress gameplay videos. I still haven't redeemed my code. I just lost interest. Loved Shenmue II on Xbox.
For anyone who played the original Shenmue series, you'll feel right at home playing Shenmue 3.
I think it's a great title considering they had limited budget and managed to create a beautiful world with voice acting for each character in both English and Japanese.
I played both 1 and 2 last year and it was painful to get through.
I would've still considered it painful if I'd played it 20 years ago as a kid too.
They did end up with $6m, but unfortunately my nostalgia for my Shenmue 2 experience almost 20 years back doesn’t hold up in today’s gaming improvements. I’ve left my Kickstarter version on the shelf to remind me of what I loved without ruining that memory by playing more of S3…
Since the updates (now on v1.05) the games bugs have been ironed out on PS4.
Agree with @paracaps Shenmue 3 is right up anyone’s alley that have played the Dreamcast or Xbox previous games.
For new gamers: This is the original Yakuza series, but without the excessive violence. It’s a good game and damn worth $30 bucks!!
I would agree except that the Yakuza series is way more refined that the Shenmue series (especially with the modern yakuza remasters etc). There is a lot more to them than just a violent version of Shenmue.
