Hi, what's your experience with Waze?
Interested in roadworks, detours etc.
The best mapping app. I use it everyday even if I'm not navigating anywhere. Love being notified of speed cameras, hazards and most of all detours! I wished everyone used it so it would get even better.
Also be good if they added lane guidance.
Google Maps added the ability to add speed cameras etc, but it is so basic at the moment.
Is it better in Melb vs Syd?
Waze used to be miles ahead of Google maps for car navigation, but Google maps had better Android (and Android auto) integration. But Google bought up Waze a while ago and they've been slowly introducing Waze functionality and features into Google maps itself so now taking into account features and convenience, I use Google maps more.
I don't use Waze because it doesn't know how to get to my house when approaching from the south, unlike Google Maps (I have a median strip preventing right turns into my street from one of the main roads)
I wonder if you could make or suggest changes to assist with it?
Yep - hit the "Map Issue" button in the App to notify Waze of a map error and they will correct it.
I could, but I stopped using Waze as well because of the constant 'suicide' turns e.g. turning right onto the Pacific Highway with six lanes of peak hour traffic and no traffic light guidance
You can turn off difficult intersections
I used to use Waze. Now it's gone.
I like it's routing options being more sneaky than Google map.
I don't like that I need a special way to exit the app or it leaves an icon on the notification bar
I don't like it that quite regularly it says an error like "no route found" or it just doesn't know where I am even though gmaps has no trouble.
I don't like that it can't use the offline maps gmaps has downloaded or have it's own
The notification icon 'stay alive' function is handy when you want to switch to music apps etc and not lose your navigation. I don't get any of your other issues either.
Not sure if IRCC, but didn't google buy out waze? so same same now
not the same. owned by google but still operate independently.
the biggest advantage of Waze over google maps is that the user interface of Waze is closer to the actual GPS, e.g. big icon/button, user friendly interface, etc.
Waze is designed by Mossad spies in Israel.
SO yes, it's good!
Tell that to the 2 IDF soldiers who Wazed into Palestine
Pales…what? What's that?
I use Waze daily, I travel to different client sites each day and normally drive 2/2.5 hours per day.
A few times I have decided to trust my own instincts when Waze tries to take me off on a funny path and have normally paid the price with a long drive.
My biggest issue was for a couple of months I was having intermittent issues with Android Auto, but that seems to be mostly resolved now and haven't had issues for a few weeks.
I find wade drained more batteru for me. Even not in use.
But now that I have android 9/10 that shouldn't be an issue, I've never gone back to test though
I use Waze over google maps 90% of the time
Sometimes it can’t find a location so I flick back to google maps
Waze is much better in the US as so many many more people are using it there, it's ok in the major cities here but outside of that , google maps is probably more useful..
I think for detours etc, especially in urban areas waze has the advantage. I like the lane guidance in google maps and I use google maps more on country trips.
Although, re detours - the detour route can quickly become congested because of the 'waze effect' heh.
