  • How much are they normally?

    • Excess of $250 currently at other retailers. But it has been around $150 on few occasions.

      • thanks

$149 for Refurbish also with 2 year warranty delivered from Sennheiser Australia

How well do they clean it though?

      • +1

Like new when I purchased. The material pads, looked like they were replaced and all cables they provide are new

        • -5

So you didn't find traces of ear wax?

          • +7

@jv: Why would you complain about a free snack?

        • +1

Re the Sennheiser Outlet - are they packaged like new as well? Standard retail box, etc? I'd assume so, but would like to confirm - contemplating as a present option.

          • +1

@brk: I got just a plain brown box (non-retail) for the headphones. The USB cables and AUX cable were sealed in retail packaging

          • +2

@brk: Mine came in the factory box, with all manuals, cables, etc. Mine looked brand new. So win for me.

    • Would Officeworks price beat in Victoria where there are no stores?

      • Cant hurt to ask.

Great price, I've had these for a few years now (was lucky enough to get them for free in a competition).

-Noise cancelling isn't perfect, but is pretty good. I have no trouble listening to a podcast while mowing the lawn for example. Even without the active noise cancelling, they have a pretty good seal to the extent that I don't wear them at work because I get too anxious not being aware of my surroundings.
-Good battery life - I don't have much of a commute now, so I only use them max an hour per day, but I feel like I never charge them, maybe once every two or three weeks.
-Button interface is terrible, only thing that is easy to do is skip a song. The pause button is part of the forward/back slider, so it's very easy to click incorrectly.
-Comfort is excellent, I've got big ears and they sit comfortably over the entire ear. I've worn them straight through eight hour flights with no worries.

    Great cans all round.

I agree with everything you say. I use mine alot and only really run out of battery flying from Sydney-London. I normally run out 2hrs from landing so I get about 19-20hrs from one charge. Very decent comparing they are two years old now. They also seem to charge quickly at home. 10min charge normally gives me over an hour. 1hr charge gives me more than 6hrs. People also complain they get tight feeling on long time usage (like more than a few hours). Simply adjust them and putting the speakers away from the base makes the pressure much less

How do you find the ANC on flights? Sufficient enough to snooze / watch movies without being too aware of the engine?

        • +1

It's great. I fly frequently and never had an issue with the ANC on the flights.

          • @friedmaki: Are there multiple levels of ANC?

I ask because BOSE to me is terrible, its too agressive.

Yes, it makes the world silent, but i can hear the hiss, and feel the pressure; i never 'get used to it'.

Where as audio technica anc, is mild enough that any and all drone is removed (engines, wind noise, etc); but unexpected noises, like speech still get through (slightly muffled, but 90%), and that style is my preferred type.

            Tldr;
Can i set ANC to 'low' or is it on/off, and would you consider it agressive like bose is.

            • @MasterScythe: No, simply on and off. I've never found mine to aggressive with the ANC, like I can tell when it is on compared to off, but no hiss.

            • @MasterScythe: Just like what AdosHouse has said; it's either 'on' or 'off'. Personally, I don't hear any cabin noise or background chatter through my music.

      • What do you mean putting the speakers away from the base?

        • +1

I don't know how to describe it. Think of holding a pair of headphone by the band that goes over the top of your head and the pull the speaker parts down to adjust them. Like what people with a big head would do.

          • +1

@Froot Loops: Haha I got exactly what you meant. Extending the band! Will see how that goes

  • I was going to buy the PXC 550's from Amazon today but the price jumped from $269 to $329 so looking for an alternative

      • link not working for me

        • Strange, works for me even now. Just Google Sennheiser Outlet, get the au one, PXC 550 for $270 and full 2 year warranty.

          • @AdosHouse: cheers mate. Hard to pay the price for a reconditioned one when a brand new one was the same price a couple of days ago but I'm tempted.

            • +1

@mouseman99: I got my HD4.50BTNC from Sennheiser reconditioned, and they looked perfectly brand new. Comments above said he got his in a plain brown box but otherwise new.

And it is direct with the manufacturer , with full warranty.

It's a cache issue. This website is a nightmare every deal. Google "sennheiser outlet Australia" and it the first link

        • Direct links to product pages on Sennheiser Outlet don't work. Visit the Outlet home page first to load a cookie into the browser, then the links will work.

  • Got mine for $131.10 (price beat at Officeworks)

Not as good as BOSE, in ANC, comfort and sound quality, but well worth at for the price. I fly 2-3x every month.

    • $125, sold out tho :(

      • Bummer.

        Guess I got lucky.

Still, a good product at $155 (OW price beat) compared to $300+ for BOSE. And Im saying this as a BOSE QC15 & 35 user.

        • Went to OW and wouldnt price beat as none in stock with Bing Lee
