Update: Was asked to remove, store chaos, sold out yesterday

Was just shopping for my wife a new phone and dropped into the good guys Chadstone to have a look at some Xiaomi. The sales guy said as S20 is coming out they are offering the S10 range for zero dollars as long as you sign up to Telstra $65, 60gB plan for 12 months, I thought it sounded a bit dodgy but turned out to be legit. This is how it works, Telstra are offering a $400 gift card to port in from another carrier, the good guys are reducing the outright phones to $400 and then using the gift card (if you want) to have a zero cost phone. My wife got the S10+, happened to be when they pulled it out to be the 512mb version instead of the 128mb

So effectively you are getting the S10 / + for $720 $780 over 12 months, 60gb plan.

They had perhaps 10-15 of S10 available, I believe only a couple of S10+

    Just called Tempe, Caringbah and Bankstown NSW and they won't do the deal.
    2 stores said s9 and the other was not sure what they are offering. This deal is unfortunately unattainable.

      The receipt they uploaded said "auth by KA", I'm guessing it needed manager approval which matches up with what OP said.

    If the goal is to get new customers onto telstra plans it would make sense for the better deals (the ones where the phone value is greater than the cost of the plan) some have mentioned to be offered to customers who are already looking for phones in store.

    If they advertise it or make it nationwide they'd just get the same customers who are already with telstra turning up to keep getting these deals

      Called Prospect. Lady said they arent honouring this. Not saying the above comment is or isnt true. Lady also mentioned that there were consequences for the sales staff and many enquiries. Suggest this thread be removed so the Ozbargain name doesnt become an annoyance to these businesses because of multiple phone enquiries about this offer quoting Ozbargain. Just a thought.

    Sorry to burst some people's bubble but i managed to get the deal, as well as the other 4 ozbargainers that were in front of me at Good Guys.

    I turned up at 10am to inquire about the deal and he was having a look but then he received an email from head office stating it was a price error. However he told us he will honor deal anyway and sorted out the deal for all of us.

    I dont want to post the suburb or store as I dont want to get him in trouble with TGG if they are reading this, but suffice to say it was a country victoria store.

    Huge thanks to the OP for posting this deal!!! I and the other 4 managed to snag the s10s!

        Yea man, thought I would try my luck. I think it just came down to the manager's discretion. As he was looking into it, the head office email came through to him about it being a price error but he said that since we were all there he would honor it.

        Respect to him! Perhaps coz its a country town, people are more laid back? I am just glad i got to replace my banged up S8!

    I tried this morning only because I was shopping for a microwave. I found out there was such a deal as the OP obtained, but that it was limited to certain stores. The section manager was also very unhappy with this apparently common Good Guys practice. They get notices distributed internally and they are not allowed to show the public, but I saw enough to guess they were largely city stores here in NSW. Does not mean it was not a mistake in the first place, or that they stopped it when they realised, but I really don't like the practice of limiting it to certain stores. Discriminatory against regional and rural people.
