Couple of years ago these were $230, about a year back $110, so price is probably bottomed out.
$77.30 / $81 is too big of a price increase now so I have marked it expired.
Keep in mind you shouldn't put these into Ryzen 3 / 5 / 7 systems, especially Ryzen 2000 / 3000's higher tier / high core counts in particular if you care about performance. I have tried 2400mhz RAM before and it really bottlenecks the system.
Can it be overclocked?
whether (and how far) you can OC it completely depends on the quality of the die. you'd be considered lucky if you get a kit of 2400mhz and can push it to 2666mhz stable.
most die will hit 3000/cl15, for the exception of early miron, so you're actually unlucky if you can't get above 2666
what differs on ryzen 1000 to deem it not as needing fast memory as ryzen 2000 / 3000 series ?
bit of a typo, corrected now to say that if you had higher tier ryzens (CPU's that are higher up the product stack) don't give it slow memory. First generation Ryzen is affected just as much if you give it slow RAM.
My benchmarks with the first generation R1600x, although note that the 2400mhz results had less RAM in total (2* 4GB) while the 3000mhz results had 16GB RAM in a 2-DIMM config.

Now $81.07
… because the $AUD just hit 66.1c
I doubt we're going to see another excellent RAM deal anytime soon, given supply issues & the AUD slide.
