Warranty Issues with Tomtop. Has Anyone Else Had a Similar Experience with Them?

My experience:

I bought Haylou GT1 Mini TWS Earphones from TOMTOP in July'2019.

The charging box suddenly stopped working this month. Since this item comes with 1 year warranty, I lodged a claim with them.

They asked for a video of the problem to be uploaded to youtube, which I did.

Their initial response was that I have used the item for a long time!?!

When I reminded them of their obligation to honor warranty claims, they offered me a nominal refund (equal to half the price of a replacement charging box on Aliexpress).

It is a valid warranty claim; defect has been proven with evidence, why use delaying tactics then?

Just wondering if others have also had similar warranty related issues with them?

Thank you

This is pretty much expected when you buy from AliBaba clones.

You're lucky you even got a response.

Why? You didn't feel like buying from amazon for easy warranty/returns?.

    • Do you only ever buy an item from a specific shop for easy warranty/returns?

If the price is close, yes. What sort of warranty service did you expect from some dodgy Chinese drop shippers? It's not like you were saving hundreds of dollars, they are $30 earphones.

        • Price tag for the purpose of warranty claim is irrelevant.
I'd claim warranty on a $30 item - if it comes with warranty. Won't you?

None of the drop shoppers advertise themselves as being dodgy - hence, my question: Has Anyone Else Had a Similar Experience with Them?

@Riddler2018: I never said price had anything to do with warranty. I said if the prices are close, why would you bother with a random dropshipper over Amazon?

All drop shippers are dodgy. They aren't in Australia, so the warranty is basically worthless. There is no way to get them to comply.

@brendanm: 100% agree. A couple extra bucks to buy from a "name brand" is money well spent.

The warranty is worthless. If they ignore you or refuse to refund/repair, what can you actually do about it? Absolutely nothing.

Better off sticking with eBay or Amazon.
