    for everyone thats asking

how do i know this is a new phone

    first go to https://checkcoverage.apple.com/

type in imei or serial number

this is 1 of the phones 356134095955982

it will say please activate phone which means its never been used

once you activate warranty will satrt

    • Probably worth editing your deal post to add this information. Might reduce the flow of questions coming in the comments.

Best of luck with your business mate!

    • Also this is about what the 6S is actually worth these days. It's getting a bit long in the tooth. It will be five years old this September when the new mainline iPhones come out.

      • Any links where I can buy an iPhone 6S 32GB for $310 or less delivered?

        • +3

Preowned, sure. I just mean the phone itself isn't great value, it'll feel a bit sluggish, safari pages with forms you're in the middle of filling will refresh when you open them again, etc.

        • delivery is $10

    • '356134095955982 ' Phone is legitimate. Can confirm that. https://pasteboard.co/IVkTaAMe.png

Purchase date is 'estimated'. Apple systems work by this date and/or the activation date unless you can provide a POP. So keep the invoice handy as warranty is 2 years from invoice date. Apart from that all good.

How do I know all this? - I own an apple aasp

    • Why picture all boxes info ripped of on side? imie or whatever????

  • +3

    Are these aus stock?

    • yes they are australian stock otherwise they wouldnt have apple warranty

      • Wrong, Apple warranties all their products internationally for 12 months. Australian stock will also be covered under ACL.

        • +2

          WRONG
Apple warranty on iPhones and iPads is local only
          macbook etc is internnational

      • why did you open them? To see if they're there?

    • +2

      Hilarious.

    • +3

      very funny

    • That's actually funny, but comment is hidden.

I had to non-google it, "iphone cruise ship" to see it's true about them handing out iphones. This is why the comment is funny. Phones should be burnt in furnace, not ozbargained!

  • +7

    Colour me sus.

EDIT: Why were the boxes opened?

    • -1

damaged boxes as you can see in the picture

      • How were they damaged?

        • +1

          most are customer returns

          • +10

@247phonerepair: Damaged boxes != customer returns… Who knows what the customer did with the phone before it was returned..

            • @[Deactivated]:

              Damaged boxes != customer returns

But he literally said they were customer returns.

Who knows what the customer did with the phone

Dropped in toilet by infected zombie; mucus on the camera lens.

          • +7

@247phonerepair: I don't understand. First you said they were damaged boxes (how were they damaged still remains a mystery), now you're saying they're customer returns (which is very different from damaged boxes). So what's the real story?

            • -3

@Trishool: its just a box that isn't perfect. the phones have never been activated so they are brand new. what dont you understand dude

  • +2

    …noooope.

    • whats the problem

      • +2

After reading the news article on your incident, feelsbad man. I hope they caught the criminals. But initially the post wasnt structured that well and i believe any reasonable person would have doubt. genuinely Good luck on selling these phones.

        • +3

          its my first post
still trying to work things out

  • +1

Did they fall off a truck?

    • +4

      no all legit stock
      just damaged boxes

      • How did they get damaged?

        • +13

Probably damaged by falling off the truck ;-)

  • -5

Lol, 247phonerepair can send me one for the cost of postage and then I can let everyone know if they’re legit.

    Don’t worry, I’ll show myself out…

  • It would help if the link go to the deal to purchase and not just a photo :-)

    • +2

      sorry im new to this
      still trying
there should be a link to my facebook page

  • +7

I think we would all like to know a) what is the background of these phones given their age b) why have the boxes been opened?

    • +3

      i have a phone business
boxes have been damaged other than that phones are new

      • +14

So as per my previous question…..what is the background of these phones and why are the boxes open?

Your reply "just damaged boxes" to everyone's questions makes this even more dodgy!

        • +6

phones have been opened but not used
most of them because of change of mind
screen too small or memory is too small

if its dodgy why would i give my store address and contact number and faceboo

          • +35

@247phonerepair: So someone bought the phone, opened the box - didn't take off any of the stickers, didn't turn it on, absolutely nothing, and then decided the screen and/or storage capacity is too small?

This is getting better by the minute.

            Sorry I don't use faceboo.

          • +4

            @247phonerepair:

            all devices are new

phones have been opened but not used

            247phonerepair

            Well, I’m convinced ✅

          • @247phonerepair: do you haggle?. $200 posted.

    • You got negged for enquiring background info on these opened phones.

  • +4

And also why have all the stickers with the IMEI info been removed?

    • +4

imei are on the bottom of the box

  • +3

I would not be too skeptical considering that the address is of a valid business therefore buyers are protected by ACL.
Refunds by law: In Australia, consumers have a legal right to obtain a refund from a business if the goods purchased are faulty, not fit for purpose or don't match the seller's description.
In other words, the seller cannot say it is covered by Apple Warranty if it is not so. And if it is, then is a genuine new item.
Not a bad price considering that pre-owned units are selling around this price.

    • +10

Having ACL rights and being able to get them enforced or undertaken by the seller is another question. Buy 200 iPhones, make claims to sell then quick, sell all stock then liquidate the holding company (here's looking at you construction/labour hire industry). ACL won't help much, and if they're not Au stock Apple can be difficult to deal with.

Doesn't feel like the op would do this intentionally, but may find themselves unwittingly unable to meet their costs.

Also good fakes now have genuine Apple serial numbers on them, so while they appear covered you only know post an Apple physical assessment.

      • +1

ASIC shows business starting around the same time as their FB creation (early 2017). So I would give them benefit of the doubt that they are not fly by night operator. Also Apple makes it easy to check warranty with serial number at https://checkcoverage.apple.com/ so you can ask them for the serial number of the unit you are buying for peace of mind.

        • I used to use the Apple check, but like I said now the fakes use a genuine serial and you'd only know upon physical Apple inspection. Been burned myself doing this thinking it was safe.

      • Apparently what you described is illegal and penalty can include prison sentences https://asic.gov.au/for-business/small-business/closing-a-sm…

        • Lol, doesn't seem to get prosecuted a lot (from the guy who worked in prosecutions I never ever saw an instance). Also doesn't seem to be a deterrence.

  • +3

all phones are new and come with apple warranty not store warranty so if you do have any issues you can take it directly to apple

    • +5

I gather you mean both full apple warranty, IN ADDITION to your store warranty as per Australian Consumer Law?

      • +3

yes 1 year apple and 1 year consumer

  • Your business name doesn't come up under ASIC or ABNR so what are you trading as?

    • +4

      247phonerepairs

      • Why are you saying you trade as Altona Phone Repairs in the title?

Are you able to confirm if this is you?

        Entity name: FATFAT, TOHA

        • +3

          yes
altona phone reapirs is main store in altona north
247 phone repairs is after hours

          • @247phonerepair: Is it the same company? Best of luck selling. Just note that electronics (especially phones) can be riddled with issues.

        • geez people are busting his b$lls….seems ok…….whats 6S like??? what Os is on them?? 13 would kill it no?.

  • -1

Sorry OP, but it looks dodgy as.

    • +4

      why dodgy

  • -7

Funny how the damage on the box only seems to affect where the imei and serial number sticker was originally.

    That's some terrible luck mate.

    • +8

      imei is on the bottom

  • +2
    • +6

      yes thats me
dont like to bring it up

      • Hey, you got heavy on Toha Fatfat

      • who leaves us hanging like that… did they catch them?

        • +10

          theyve caught a few them

      • +8

Hey I remember seeing you in or in front of one of the phone repair shops on Swanston St Carlton a few years back. Only saw you a couple of times I think but each time I saw you you had a smile on your face. So much so that the image stuck to this day. Hope you're doing good.

    • +37

TBH, I am more likely to buy one of these after reading that.

    • +4

Am sorry to hear that. I had a similar experience selling a laptop on Gumtree (snatch and run) so it really pisses me off hearing similar cases. Reporting to police just go on file as it is low priority, understandably with their lack of budget and manpower nowadays.

      • +2

Next time arrange the meeting in front of/inside a police station (they usually have a waiting area where there's seating etc) and are open 24/7

        • +8

Not practical, more than half of the "buyers" on Gumtree are time wasters and never turn up.

        • +4

normally its at my store but this was after hours

  • +3

So long as we're doing private deals, I'll do a private offer.

I'll take a gamble on one for 200, ball's in your court bud, I can transfer it right now.

    • i sell these through my business
i have no issues selling tham
      thanks

    • +17

evryone is welcome to come to my store

    • +66

I would give the guy a break. It does not look like a backyard operation to me, with an established business name and address. He's having a go at earning his living fairly and not sitting around for a government handout.
