Budget Place in Adelaide to Service a 2005 BMW 1 Series

hi all, this is my 1st post on this forum! Hey!!!!!

So i bought my 1st ever car in my life in Australia. Its a 2nd hand BMW 1 series the 120i version. 135,000 on the clock. The next service is due on 142,000kms. But I feel the car has been worn off for a long time and need an immediate service. I got this at a bargain and also drained my pockets.

Whats the the most cost effective and reliable car service station you guys can recommend in Adelaide or in that radius

BMW + Empty bank account + needs service = big trouble.

  • Don't go to the dealer. I've heard BMW in the city is charging $220 per hour for a mechanic (not confirmed).
Just Google BMW service, there're a few mechanics that only do BMW or are specialised in German cars. They have the same tools and computer stuff and can do logbook servicing but are a lot cheaper. They probably don't have a fancy waiting room, shuttle service and "free" wash.

  • South or North?

Used to have a good mechanic but Aldinga so might be too far away

    Wreckers

  • But I feel the car has been worn off for a long time and need an immediate service.

Was the logbook stamped for the last service?

    Oil leaks galore.

Probably not an ideal choice for a first car if you're not mechanically minded.

Having said that, find yourself a good mechanic that knows BMWs and it can be a decent car. Good luck.

  • BMWise or bm connections, they not budget but cheaper and better from getting ur car service from dealership…

Yep, that engine is known for oil leaks that never stop.

  • 1 series 4 cylinder BMW and no money aren't a good combination.

  • Can't answer your Adelaide specific query but when taking it in and it's on the lift, get them to check the chassis rails which commonly clog up with water and leak into the back seats as the plastic seal plugs degrade. It's a common defect in many BMWs but especially the 1 series hatchback. As others have said, it's really not a good first car choice.

The word Budget and BMW don't go hand in hand.
