Man that looks comfy, wish I was a baby.

  • the joie capsule was subject to a recall late last year.

Only certain serial numbers. It wasn't a blanket recall.

  • How does this compare to Britax Graphene?

    • I have the Graphene, and the Joie seems to be quite long when in rear-facing. We have a small car for my wife, so a more compact seat is what we went for (length and width). The Graphene has been great.

  • I'm looking at getting a second car seat for my car, looks good for the price. Anyone own one and dislike it/have anything to fault?

  • The width seems to be a bit high compared to some of the other ones i've seen (48-53cm) might want to keep in mind when purchasing. I got one which was 49CM and it seemed quite wide at the time. Might not suit smaller cars.

I have this car seat. FTM so cant really compare to others, but when purchasing we were going to get the Britax Graphene, but were persuaded to get this. We were told it has safety features of top end car seat, at mid-range price. Key features not in Graphene were the steel reinforced shell and the retractable guard side panels. Baby seems to like the seat and looks comfy. It also fits in a Suzuki Swift so is compact, front seat is still usable at newborn stage, middle seat out of action. I would recommend.

    • Is it installed rear facing or front facing? The dimensions make it sound really long for rear facing.

Rear facing. In the Swift it will fit at max length rear facing, however the front passenger seat will need to be pushed as far forward as possible at that stage, so no one could sit there. For now, with a newborn it is fine.

        • Yeah, thats why we went the Graphene. Was able to still sit in the front as it was significantly shorter in rear facing mode.
Had the same issue with capsules too, had to find one that didn't render the front seat completely useless!

This car seat failed catastrophically in crash test.

Stop using it and return to the shop.

    • This is shocking. Shops are quoting that the seat meets Australian standards, and that this is only a third party test. Being told to contact Joie, who are repeating the same story.

      • Only this '3rd party' is Child Restraint Evaluation Program and it's definitely more trustworthy than the manufacturer's own test.
If the Australian standard allows child to be ejected at 56 km/h crash than I'll start bubble wrap my kid in car.

Make a complain at Fair Trading. I think Joie don't really have a choice but to recall them eventually.

  • ***Careful, this product is currently on recall by the manufacturer due to failing the crush test at 56km/he.
