Buy 4 Burgers and Get 1 Free + $10 Flame Rewards Voucher if You Try 4 Different Burgers @ Oporto

211

Some people asked about this deal, so here are further details, and its unclear if the $1 chips https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/516506 also works with this deal, but it looks very good. Flame Rewards required.

Possibly its buy 4 burgers, and if a different burger every visit, the $10 applies, but there is also the bonus Oporto dollars, the free burger, and $1 chips https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/516506, making this a very nice deal. I ordered Oporto yesterday, but instead of them counting the burger on my flame rewards they jut gave me free chips, which was not exactly what i wanted, much better this deal.

Thanks to dazeet for the T & C

oporto change my oporto rewards from gold to orange last week. no more birthday meals

This is another benefit, I forgot to mention, this deal can help you get to a Silver or Gold status by more visits.

It looks like Oporto is after market share in February.

    • +1

that was basically the only time i went to Oporto — free bday meals and the occasional $5 "inactivity" voucher

      • Its a loyalty card, but it looks like you are not being very loyal to the card

        • +3

loyalty to corporations is foolish and grounds for having one's ozbargain card torn up

Can confirm, can stack $1 chips and also tick off one of your 4 burgers.

  • You need to add in description that you need to sign up to be a member (free) to access the deal.

    Very sneaky retailer!

OP - please add in the description to include the fact that it is not just any burger.

And please keep updating the description as this offer changes over time, as the single fillet Otropo no longer counts after this deal has started. I have already been burnt because of this.

Currently, the summarised T&C for this offer as shown on the Oporto app reads:
Qualifying products include Bondi Burger (Single, Double and Triple), Oprego Burger (Single, Double, and Triple), Otropo Burger (Double and Triple), Veggie Burger and Vegan Burger a la carte or in meal. Excludes catering order and voucher redemption transactions. Full terms and conditions available at www.oporto.com.au.

I bought 2 burgers on Feb 1 for dinner: a Chicken and Haloumi, and a single fillet Otropo. For some reason, this transaction is dated Feb 2 in the Oporto app.

Got an email from Oporto Flame Rewards on Feb 3@1014 with the subject "You're only 3 burgers away!" and thought hey, that's odd. Scrolled down to the bottom of the email to read (remember - the T&C below is now out of date!):
To qualify for a free burger voucher, member must buy 4 burgers during the month of February. Qualifying products include Bondi Burger (Single, Double and Triple), Oprego Burger (Single, Double and Triple), Otropo Burger (Single, Double and Triple), Veggie Burger and Vegan Burger a la carte or in a meal. Excludes catering orders and voucher redemption transactions.
If purchase contains more than 1 qualifying product, all count towards the tracker, however there is a limit of 4 burgers per transaction - if over 4, the remaining within that purchase will not be counted towards this offer…
^To qualify for the $10 Flame Rewards voucher, member must buy 4 different kinds of burgers during the month of February. Qualifying products include Bondi Burger (Single, Double and Triple), Oprego Burger (Single, Double and Triple), Otropo Burger (Single, Double and Triple), Veggie Burger and Vegan Burger a la carte or in a meal. Only one $10 Flame Rewards voucher can be earned throughout the campaign period…

At the time, the T&C appear to be unchanged from the bottom of the first email dated Feb 1@1104 that introduced this offer, so the ineligible Chicken and Haloumi is my fault. Opened the Oporto app to see, OK - I am 1 down, 3 to go. So sure enough - the single fillet Otropo still qualified.

Just opened the Oporto app again this morning and…what? Back to 0 down, 4 to go? Then scrolled down the offer to notice that they have now quietly taken even the single fillet Otropo off the list of qualifying products!

Not very happy with this sneaky move, that's for sure!

Are you sure you're looking at the right section in the app?

I just got spooked when loading the app up, cause it showed me the "whats new" section with a blank punchcard, however my other punchcard is there with 2 burgers down, 2 to go.

On Feb 3 (presumably when the single Otropo still qualified) when I got the "You're only 3 burgers away!" email, my Oporto's app's home screen under What's New, was showing "ONLY 3 MORE TO GO" for me.

This morning (Feb 4), the image under What's New has reverted back to "BUY 4, GET 1 FREE". Clicking on that image gives me more details re: this offer, including the T&C at the bottom stating the single Otropo does not qualify. While the image at the top is "BUY 4, GET 1 FREE".

See if I have time to post up screenshots later.

        • Strange, and frustrating.

        • I don't know where you're reading T&Cs but the app just says to go to the website for T&Cs, and I just checked the website and single filet otropo qualifies. I don't see why it wouldn't qualify either because it is in the same price range as the single bondi and oprego and they qualify.

Update: I think I know what your issue is. The first guy who replied already told you, but in the OFFERS section the $1 chip offer is currently the first one so you have to swipe to the right. You probably still have the single fillet otropo counted, you just need to look at the 'OFFERS' section, not the 'WHAT'S NEW' section which just has a static image that doesn't change of the empty circles.

I find it very hard to believe they would have actually removed a stamp. Plus on their website and FB page they list the single fillet otropo as counted, the T&C in the 'whats new' section is probably just a typo.

          • @Tim349850: Thank you @Tim349850. It is exactly as you have described. I am actually 1 down, 3 to go.

MODS: Grateful if you can remove my negative vote for this deal for now. Although under "WHAT'S NEW" in the Oporto app, after clicking on the "BUY 4, GET 1 FREE" deal, and scrolling down to the T&C, the Single Otropo is still not listed as a qualifying product (even though it is listed on the Oporto web site, and in their emails):
            https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/242941/76984/img_5092.…

So which is correct? Their app = not qualified? Or their web site and emails = qualified?

And just because the Single Otropo counted for me back then, does not necessarily mean it still qualifies now, especially if the T&C in their app is correct (instead of the T&C in their web site and emails).

I guess the only way to find out, is to buy another Single Otropo now and then see what happens…

    • Single Otropo counts according to the T&C
      https://www.oporto.com.au/store-promotions/

I messed up too by ordering a Chicken & Haloumi on Saturday.

      • Then there is an apparent contradiction between the T&C on their web site, and the T&C in the Oporto app after you click on the offer, and scroll down.

All I can say is, I paid for the single fillet Otropo on Feb 1. It counted for me on Feb 3, both by email and in the app, but it no longer counts for me as of this morning (Feb 4).

See if I have time to post up screenshots of my email etc. on imgur or something later.

        • There are no T&Cs in the app. In the app after you click on the offer and scroll to the bottom it just says to: 'visit oporto.com/store-promotions for full T&C'
          Single fillet otropo qualifies.

I didn't have any trouble with a triple fillet otropo I got on Sunday, I even used a welcome voucher with it and didn't know this offer existed at the time.

    • Agree that it is very misleading.

Even on their site, the positioning of the asterisk regarding the haloumi burger being excluded reads as if it is excluded as being the free burger, not that it won't count as one of the 4 qualifying purchased burgers.

"YOU’LL GET 1 FREE BURGER VOUCHER!*"

Of course in the app it just says buy 4 burgers and get 1 free. So I bought 2 of the haloumi burgers and then wondered why they didn't count towards the promo!

Of course they I checked the actual website and realised their deception.

I still don't understand why they would want to specifically single it out as being excluded?!? Do they not want people to buy it??

It's also not clear about the 4 different burgers to get the $10 credit. Are all the bondi burgers counted as separate or would they class them as the same type of burger?

      • I made the same mistake too and its one of the pricier burgers too. No where does it mention that it EXCLUDES certain burgers. Rather their marketing team chose to put inclusive burgers in small print.

  • I used my free spicy chicken bolas and got 2 burgers, and it counted toward this, so I dont see why the $1 chips wouldnt either.

  • +1

So not 4 burgers in one visit because damn I was going to say this some next level ozbargaining.

    • The T&C suggests up to 4 eligible burgers per transaction. But the 5th one or more will not count in the same transaction:

According to @Karmond's link on their web site (https://www.oporto.com.au/store-promotions/):
•If purchase contains more than 1 qualifying product, all count towards the tracker, however there is a limit of 4 burgers per transaction. If members order more than 4 burgers in a single transaction, only one free burger voucher is issued. Any additional burger in this transaction will not count towards another free burger voucher.

…why go thru so much bs for some 'free' food?

    • What bs? You only need to sign up once, then when you're at the counter give them your mobile number, you don't even have to get your phone out.

  • Is the app supposed to say when u can get the free burger? I've bought 4 and it just restarted the buy 4 get 1 free offer but it doesn't say anywhere that I get a free burger!

  • Can be combined with the buy one get one free offer available til end of Feb - essentially buy 2 get 3 free.

  • Got totally scammed. Purchases 8 burgers and never received the 2 "free burgers"

Emailed customer support twice (over last 5 days) and still no response.

    • Worked ok for me. Did you make the mistake of buying the hamloumi burger. That one is excluded from offer. The free burger is attached to your account. Still waiting on my $10 credit

      • The $10 is still on its way. From the T&C it is sometime later in March if i remember correctly.

      • Nope the offer just disappeared on my app after I completed the 4 burger purchases. Happened twice. I assumed the free burgers would be on my account, scanned at the store but they said there is no offers loaded on my account.

        • Were you getting emails saying, just 2 more to go, just 1 more to go etc

          • @Crownanchor: Not sure if I got the emails.
But on the app each time I purchased a burger it would indicate that I had so many left to go. Then after I got the 4th burger, it just started a new one. So I did it twice through. Never saw anything on the app saying I had a free burger so on my last time at oportos I asked them about it and they said they couldn't see anything in my account about any free burgers.

Emailed the customer support via their website twice and still never heard back.

            • +1

@harthagan: It is correct that the counter would reset after 4 burgers, so the count can start for the next free burger with 4 purchased, so you really should have 2 free burgers, and you must have ordered the qualifying burgers by the sounds of it.

Which stores were you shopping at? There were a couple of exclusions that the deal does not apply to.

Also the free $10 is today as it has 2nd of March in the T&C, although i dont have this yet, and maybe it will be later on today.

@Crownanchor: The $10 vouchers have arrived. Did you get the $10 voucher harthagan?

                • @Crownanchor: Nope still nothing received. Got changed from platinum member to Orange despite spending over $100 in the last month on Oportos lol
