OzBargain on Mobile Safari - side bar gone

Hi all,
Noticed OzBargain main page (not m.ozbargain.com.au) renders without the side bar now on Mobile Safari (iPhone/iPod).
This means the New Deals are not visible from the main page, nor are Top Deals visible from within each deal.
Personally I much preferred having the side bar there so I can see things as I do on desktop.

Can I request it either be put back, or at least have a link for rendering the desktop version?

Also, the pages are not zoomable as they are fixed width and clicking page numbers in the forums can be quite… hit and miss, literally.

    Seems to be happening with most/all mobile browsers. I don't like it either.

    Pretty sure it's by design seeing as there are now mobile ads.
    I don't mind ads, I just don't like not having the side bar!

      I'm pretty sure when you are logged in you can select to display no adds in your profile settings.

    A mobile web version was added last night and that's served when a mobile browser is detected. Sidebar is removed and there's a few rendering changes. Still pretty much work in progress…

    Currently there is no way opt-out (yet). Judging from the response, the would be the top priority for my weekend :P

        m.ozbargain.com.au (the dumb mobile browser version) would be discontinued, and Live Action should work on the mobile web version (assuming you are using any of those webkit-based browsers).

    Yeah, starting today, I can't see the 'Subject' column in live on my android phone either.

    Oh, just noticed the forums render broken…
    It's currently zoomable but cropped on the right, with most of the last poster's time and username missing

    the picture is too big too, I dont know about others, but I still use the title as the linkmore often than not

    Some changes got pushed to the site last night.

    • width is no longer set to device width so it's more usable on smaller/low resolution screens now (ie those QVGA/HVGA ones)
    • pop ups don't come up on the left anymore if it goes outside the screen
    • "Full Site" link at the footer of the page to allow you to use the non-mobile site on mobile devices.

    The mobile site is still pretty much work in progress. Thanks for the patience while we iron out the issues.

    I don't know if this thread is still monitored, but the mobile website appears to be inactive - I'm only getting the full site from mobile safari.

      I don't have an iPhone to test, however when I am using iPhone/iPod Touch as the user-agent for my browser, it does come back with the mobile site. Same with Android mobile browsers.

      However a full website will be returned if you are on iPad or Android tablets.

    No top menu either… Makes the site almost unusable on a smartphone…

      Tap on the menu icon next to the logo to bring down the search box + top menu? Which phone are you using?

          Yes late last week to cut down the size of the header + works better for touch screen now. For mobile users,

          • Touch the menu icon to bring down the search box + top menu bar.
          • Touch Deals, Forums or My Account to bring down more menus.
