Shame they don't appear to have the UDM-Pro in yet.

    • Only just out of early access in the US. Might be a while I think unfortunately.

      • The official resellers tend to get them fairly quickly. MWave were advertising stock here yesterday so I'm guessing they had them in country already.

    • shame they arent cheaper than $750

      • Damn $750 seems nuts.but what do I use for a router instead? I don't actually need the controller or protect as well as run them on Synology.

        • if you are only after a (prosumer) router, look at the edgerouter 4, edgerouter x if you want something cheaper

          • +2

@doxxie: My edgerouter X had uptime of over a year until a power outage = /. +1 recommendation.

          • +1

@doxxie: But I'd really rather keep it all on the unifi controller. Just hard to buy a standard USG currently when it needs an update.

            • @kulprit: I might buy the 24 port switch now, and keep using my Asus router until something better comes along.

Hope was to get 16 port switch and then 8 ports from the udm pro, but that seems like a very expensive exercise.

      • I'd wager we'll see a price drop in a few months.

    • I know it would of been nice

  • What's with the postage? Some of their products are ebay plus and some are not?

    • Doesnt look like they do free postage for anything anymore

  • Just don't expect these to work like a FlexHD + CloudKey Gen2. You cannot turn off the USG component, if you like double NAT then that's okay. The LAN segment configuration expects to be the gateway. If you turn off DHCP and attempt to add it to a network which already has a complex setup or gateway you don't wish to change, it will assume itself as its own gateway and not have internet connectivity - Ubiquiti support confirmed this. Technically you can SSH into it and change the default route, although this will not persist through a reboot. Additionally, the USG style json config file won't work yet, it's on the roadmap but nothing official.

^ That being said, if you're looking at replacing an existing router, you won't be disappointed.

    • You wouldn't turn off the USG. You use the USG as your router and just bridge your nbn modem

      • The main reason I was considering the UDM was because it's a FlexHD and CK all in one, also frees up some PoE ports. I have a complex gateway setup, the USG isn't suitable. To be honest, the UDM would work just fine if I could set the gateway in the LAN segment, I would only want the UniFi controller and AP component. This is definitely the most prosumer model in their UniFi range. It was a shame for me, the UDM has better radio power compared to the FlexHD as well.

        • Don't think you have looked into it fully by the sounds

          • @asa79: I did, that's why I don't have a UDM. It's such a new product that there's very little information out there. I at least would have expected the ability to change a default route on the LAN segment. I guess I just expect too much based on other types of equipment I use day to day.

You can migrate from existing controllers to the UDM on UniOS 1.6. The backup/restore works between USG and UDM now.

Ubiquiti support confirmed that the config.gateway.json file functionality wasn't implemented just yet.

    • That's an extremely niche set of requirements, everyone else will be using this as their actual router so there'll be no double-NAT and no need to disable the USG function.

The RRP of these in Australia is A$629 - in the USA it's US$299 = A$450. Street price a little cheaper.

Hate being ripped off by local distributors.

    Great product though!

$450 plus GST takes it to about $495. $466 is not too bad.

      • If you export from the US you should get their equivalent of GST refunded.

        • +2

US prices do not include tax. You have to factor in the tax on top of the RRP in the US unlike here where laws dictate advertised prices have to be inclusive of taxes (GST).

    • Where are you finding it locally for that?

You forgetting about cost to ship to Australia, warehouse costs, middle man costs (welcome to australia)

    • "A$450. Street price a little cheaper." what is the best price in AU?

  • Dead?

    • What is?

      • The deal? When I click it, it shows $549.00

        • You need to use the coupon code. Even the original price is in the title.

Plus if you thought it was expired for real please hit the report button so a mod can mark it.

          eBay Plus only?

          • @asa79: Ahhhh. That's the best info so far… Thanks. Seems like that should be in the title or description. Or am I missing something?

        • Yeah the Ebay Plus code PLUSTECH still shows "Pay only AU $466.65". Postage is $14.50 extra. After some research I bought one today.

          • @Leeeroy: Yeah, it's a great deal. I'm waiting on my $50 eBay Plus credit though… Anyone have any idea how long that takes to show up?
