  According to news, as soon as the virus hits a surface/lands it dies.
  The real concern is if you stay prolonged time in the area with the infected person.

  On the ABC today they stated that Virgin was only notified yesterday and took the plane out of service and did a deep clean. All the comments seemed to indicate excellent response from Virgin.

I guess a lot of Airlines will also start offering cheaper flights now that they are losing their bottom line and their shares are plummeting as a result of consumer confidence taking a massive dip in travelling overseas in particular Asia. I certainly won't be boarding any flights any time soon even if they are cheap. It took 6 months to contain the SARS virus outbreak in 2002-03.

    Just fine airlines 1 million per passenger with Corona that gets in, they will soon find a way to determine when its safe, and how to establish who might and who might not have it. How hard is it to stop anyone boarding who has been to China (passport stamps) in the last 30 days for example, until they have been cleared of the virus?
    
    It takes a long time to control these things partly because we dont stop flights until its too late. Shutting the gate after the horse has bolted is no way to run quarantine type functions.
