Seeking Help to Build a Desktop PC for a Noob

Hello OZBARGAINERS!!!!
Im looking to build my own Desktop and have done some research but I am still a NOOB in the category.

The PC will be used mostly for Uni and work which runs programs like MATLAB and CAD. I'm not much of a gamer but would like to have the option if I ever wanted too.
My budget is <600 and have spent some of it already on a motherboard and PC case.

TOWER
EVGA DG-76 Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX Case ($109)

MOTHERBOARD
MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max Motherboard (buying off a friend-of-a-friend for $100)

CPU?
looking at the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G, is this sufficient? or an overkill? Do i need to buy RAM aswell?

PSU
450? 550? 650? 750?

GPU?
Do I need one at this stage?

COOLING FANS?
Do I need them for non-gaming PC?

ANY suggestions and advice will be much appreciated! Sorry for the noob questions

Spending >1/6th of the budget on the case was probably overkill!

Might be better off with a pre-built like these if you need monitor and k/b, this one if you don't (the 16gb ram would be handy for cad)

    • You are right about spending on the case but I really liked the look of it… and I couldn't say no to a bargain

    • Came here to say the same, go with a techfast deal here on ozbargain

  • Yep you need a GPU, SSD and RAM. At least 8GB of RAM. Try get 16GB of RAM.

    For the PSU 500-600W.

The EVGA case comes with 3x120mm fans.

  • Go on Ozb search type techfast buy whats in your budget

Buy a NUC, insert SSD and RAM, install OS, enjoy. :D

  • Should have just bought techfast.

    • Probably still can - most Techfast have fairly average cases and mobos, so OP could add them to their build. May need to increase budget slightly though.

      • True, just gota ensure the cup will fit. Luke would prob ship it as parts too, but then you'd risk do a's
