Read the ingredients, if there is preservative it is not real prosciutto
As per the image, it is Prosciutto Di Carpegna DOP.
Never heard Carpegna before. I can show you Beretta, Primo and other brands images claiming to be prosciutto and have preservatives in the ingredients list. The point is real prosciutto is preserved only with salt and grease around the bone joint, no room for nitrite/nitrate.
PS at this price it’s great value anyway
It's just the region, apparently produces some of the best prosciutto
No idea if this stuff is the real deal though, but given the original price point of $187/kg I would guess it is
Just saying that by virtue of the DOP, if you are interested, you can find out even more about the product than found just in the ingredients list and does confirm that it is indeed real Prosciutto di Carpegna at least (which cannot contain nitrites/nitrates from what I read).
Looks like it's at least 20 months old, a few days more probably won't kill ya.
