Head and Shoulders Shampoo 620ml $6 @Woolworths

760

I have not seen it on sale for a while, time for stock up a few with half price since my stock is running low.
In my opinion, Head and Shoulders Shampoo is one of the best anti-dandruff shampoo with a reasonable price tag.

would Knees and Toes also on special?

    • +3

Yes, just need to use your eyes and ears to find them.

      For pubic hair?

      • +4

If you have dandruff down there you probably should see a doctor and better hope that it is dandruff and not something else. Good luck, hope it isn't bad news man.

          Thanks champ.

      • called a shaver!

      • Is the dandruff… moving??? o_O

      • @RSmith I throw sand in my pubes so the crabs feel at home. You should try that!

        • Where do you get it delivered from?

Believe it or not, the best shampoo is to not use shampoo at all. I haven't been using shampoo for over a year now and my hair is so much better.

    • What do you use? I shampoo my hair every 3 days

    • When you stopped was your hair getting oily? I currently shampoo at least once a day, depending on whether I gym I’ll shampoo twice. I shave my hair short so when I don’t shampoo it gets pretty oily. Have to shampoo to keep it dry otherwise the oily ness leaves oil on my pillow cases etc

Wondering if it ever stops getting oily

      • +1

It was oily for the first 2-3 weeks, after that it gradually stopped being oily. I do use a boar bristle brush.

are you sure you have visible hair

    • +1

Tried that for about a week and ended up getting a smelly and pimply scalp even rinsing thoroughly with warm water everyday. I guess this method would be fine if you didn't sweat at all.

    • do you use a diluted solution of vinegar to wash your hair then?

    • +1

If I don't shampoo for a few days, my hair starts getting oily, smelly (according to the wife) and scalp gets itchy.

I understand not shampooing everyday but never? Come on…

    • +1

I just conditioner only. It’s called co-washing and it has been great for my curly hair. Shampoo makes my hair dry and frizzy but a bit of Argan oil combined with just conditioner washing makes it so smooth and wavy.

    • +3

You would still use water to wash your hair but just not the shampoo. When you use shampoo it removes the oils from your hair and the body's response is to constantly replenish this oil. That's why when you don't use shampoo for a few days your hair will feel/smell oily. But if you persist and don't use shampoo for a longer period of time, your body naturally will produce less oils (since its not always being stripped) and your hair won't feel oily even if you don't use shampoo. But for most of us, we can't stand having oily hair for that long before our body adjusts and that's why most people think you "have" to use shampoo.

    • I'm all for cutting down on shampoo. But never?
shampoo at least once a fortnight or something.

    • Thats awsome! Currently using AG Boost conditioner but it's starting to hit my wallet a bit. Any recomendations?

Yeah, somehow H&S is very expensive compared to other brands like Pantene, Fructis etc which are on half-price more often.

For almost 10 years I put up with a skin condition on my face, cheeks, around noise (occasionally scalp too) called seborrheic dermatitis. Dry, itchy, painful, flakey skin. Looked like sunburn peeling some days. Went to multiple doctors all pointed me in the direction of 3 different creams. 1 helped marginally, 2 didn't do shit. One day my girlfriend received advice from a work mate to use this shampoo on it. Couldn't believe how well it worked. Fixed it within 4 days. I wash my face with it every few days, haven't looked back since.
If you've got a similar problem give it a whirl…

    • How exactly do you wash your face with shampoo? As in while you're in the shower washing your hair, you then use that foam on your face?
      Asking for a friend ;)

      • Nah I find that doesn't work as well as getting a half finger full and gently rubbing it into my skin. Honestly this shit as changed my life. I'm (profanity) if they ever change the recipe lol

        • I'm guessing doing it that way it doesnt foam up?

So wet face —> rub gently on wet skin —-> wash off

          • @Red Pandas: are you seriously asking someone how to put something on your face and wash it off?

            • @piston3461: Pretty much, how many people wash their face with shampoo…
Never heard of such a thing, seems odd but I guess it must work

Curious whether he washes it off or leaves it on is all, no harm in being certain. So yes, I’m serious

    • I came here to say the same thing. It's often recommended for beard dandruff.

Except I just buy the cheapest available source of the active ingredient (0.5% zinc pyrithione), which is often Organic Care Anti-dandruff 2 In 1 Shampoo 400ml on special (it's $3.50 RRP is often reduced to $2.45 and a few weeks ago it was half price ($1.75), but this is rare.).

I know how you feel in your comment below about active ingredients getting banned. Colgate voluntarily (yet quietly) removed the controversial ingredient triclosan from their Total range. It's hard to accept change once you've built up a psychological reliance, whether the alternatives are proven equally effective or not.

Whenever I see this it takes me back to primary school.
Heads… shoulders knees and toes knees and toes…
Heads… shoulders knees and toes knees and toes…
    ……

  • Hmm reminds me of a certain victim's head connecting with someone's shoulder. Oh wait just the UFC fight from the weekend. I think Donald Cerrone will now have PTSD seeing any H&S advertisements

  • I use a shampoo and conditioner my wife buys from a market that doesn't have all the unnecessary soaps and crap in it which works better than H&S for me. The biggest changes I made were to reduce stress and get more sleep. These two alone had a near immediate change.

    • What is it called?

  • This product doesn't work for me

  • Be aware, if you have dry scalp, anti dandruff shampoos usually make it worse.

I was fighting "dandruff" for 10+ years until a hairdresser with an interest in dermatology said "i dont think its dandruff, i think its dry scalp" .

Sure enough, moisturising conditioners instead of drying shampoos and win!

    • I think this is the same case for my friend, any recommendations for the moisturising conditioners?

      • +1

He'll want to talk to a GP and get Diprosone Lotion (it's a liquid) to add to his scalp after washing, to get it cleared up to begin with.
After that, I use any of those 'soap free' washes; anything made with Goats Milk is pretty decent stuff.

If he can handle the smell, Pine Tar based washes are also good.

        • many thanks!

too big if used yourself. 6 months later still not finished, hard to justify a new one coz the dandruff effectiveness doesnt seem that good anymore
