    I can't buy this with my Apple Store ID as the free app is in the US only and my user ID is Australian

    How to get around this??

      Sorry the link I gave was probably linked to the US store. Do a search for Sims 3 in iTunes.

      I had no trouble buying it with my Australian account. Try opening itunes and searching for "Sims 3 World Adventures" and then downloading.

    Yeah, i've got the same problem..
    I wonder if it's possible to create a US account, without stuffing up my aus account..? - Has anyone tried this?

    Ok so i changed to the US store, used my Australian login and then was able to download it fine..

    I have the sims 3 and about 5 different expansion packs on the PC I haven't played for months… but what the hell I might as well get this since it's free.

        I will happily pay for functionality and resale value any day! The $200 I will lose in depreciation on my Ipad2 when I sell it for the next model, is fine with me compared to having a stale old Android tablet gathering dust after the novelty wears off…. each to their own though….

          What a crappy generalisation, why don't you look at the comparison in second-hand price between a first gen android phone and the iPhone 2g. The person who purchased the HP will lose $99 if he or she sells it for $0 after a year, you will lose 200 or more if you do the same for the iPad. Fanboys are annoying, irrational and annoying.

          Its not about how much money you lose its about how functional and useful it is to the person that buys it.

          I couldnt care less about a coffee table ornament that is the HP tab, but the next person may well think its the best thing since Beta Max.

          Just loaded up the Sims game and its pretty cool for free… well not really free, just another little something apple users get back for the higher purchase price of the great IOS devices….

          Gave it one more chance, but still getting error message, so no good for me, deal is off :( I guess its a good thing in a way, less chance of getting hooked on playing Sims!

        Same for me all day yesterday then when I finally was able to download it they had jacked the price up to .99. So I have decided to give it a miss

    It still says free, but when I click a confirmation message comes up asking whether I'm sure i want to buy it, and telling me my credit card will be charged immediately.

    I downloaded a couple of free apps, and none of them had that message pop up.

    Anyone experiencing this?

      I experienced the same thing. I clicked "yes" but still could not download. The mess "item is being modified " popped up.
