Small BBQ cheeseburger meal: $2.60 with receipt or $4.45 with coupon.
    Hmmm, decisions.

Also weird thing I've found with the app, it costs either $0.15 or $0.30 to add a pack of ketchup (depending on whether it's already on the burger or not) but you can add a standalone ketchup pack for free?

Another strange thing I've noticed is you can add BBQ sauce (and minus cheese sauce) on the cheesy cheeseburger to get a bbq cheeseburger for $2.30. Free pickle and works out less?

Similarly can try a peri peri burger for $2.30, or add bacon for $1.10; $3.10 for a beef n bacon cheeseburger?

      Thanks for the investigative work!
Would you happen to know if the receipt's feedback offer still works with the Shake & Win App (burger) offers?
I quite often used them together, however, I haven't had Hungry Jacks for many months now and considering all the jacked up prices and changes to the S&W prizes, I'm wondering if they updated their cash registers to no longer accept them to be used together.

      • +2

Would you happen to know if the receipt's feedback offer still works with the Shake & Win App (burger) offers?

Management said a big no-no to this a couple of months back. But honestly, it depends on the store. Afaik (I'm not employed by HJs) the option is still in their system to allow both although my knowledge is at least a month old.
I used it redeem it with the $1 cheeseburger - eventually I got told I couldn't anymore, spoke to the manager and it was a recent adjustment. They let me that last time but no more (city store).

However, at another store I've got no problems redeeming it (regional store). One time recently though, it wouldn't work so checkout put through 2 sauces and discounted the rest to free. ($1 cheeseburger). I'm unsure if they were just incompetent or if it was removed.

I wish I had more straightforward answer but YMMV.

        And all good :)

        • +1

Didn't realise they were clamping down on it, was using it fairly regularly towards the end of 2019 (suburban store).

        • Ahh I see.
          Thanks for the reply! =)

I'll have to try it sometime and hope my usual stores still accept it.

    • Name checks out…

  • +18

    It's getting expensive every month.

  • +30

It's almost cheaper eating at McDonalds nowadays. HJ needs to pull their finger out because they will lose business, if they jack it every month or two

    • +9

I think Macca's prices have gone up too? The $5 double beef n bacon meal has gone up to $5.95.

      • +4

dont forget the McValue dinnerbox shot up $3-4 and the McFavourites DB boosted like 4-5 bucks as well? tf

    • my old hj food court store was losing money and this was about 3 years ago, things were definitely too cheap back then. didn't help that equipment kept breaking down which was partially why they losing money.

    • Jacks by name, Jacks by nature!

I dunno - i think it's rent which is the thing. Other costs probably haven't skyrocketed as much as property over the past ten years. And probably franchise fees….

  • +14

Wow. The prices have skyrocketed as of late. Not even worth considering now :/

    • +9

Pretty soon only the rich will jack it, they’ll show up in tuxedos and ball gowns.

      • what a delightful thought

  • +6

Breakfast deals are still about half of maccas or am I missing something?

    • +21

      Yes; a sense of taste.

      • +3

I LOL but seriously the brekkie wrap is great

        • -1

It would be if they just microwaved it before adding the bbq sauce… soggy hot bbq sauce is yuck.

          • +1

@suchislife: They don't microwave them at all. They grill them on a sandwich press. Can't do the sauce after as it seals them. I really like the wrap and think it's fine as is anyway.

        • +3

Brekkie wrap is great, but now shake n win is 2 for $6 rather than $3 (and a hash brown). Normal price just isn't worth it.

      • dis guy wins todays interwebs

    • sucks theyre not all-day though

  • +1

Jesus, none of these even seem like deals. To me it looks like normal menu prices.

  • +5

the thing i dont like about hj deals is so many of them are BOGOF 2-for-1 deals when i normally am getting lunch alone in town, sigh

    • +2

You're doing it wrong…just eat both meals for lunch in one sitting! You could save one for afternoon tea, but not ideal.

      • +2

or chuck it in the fridge and save it for next day

  • +7

The HJ's shake and win app has turned to pure trash of late for me too. Hardly ever get the good offers (any freebies, $3 tendercrisp or bacon deluxe). get plenty of "two for one oreo storm", some awful-looking $5 chicken burger, "free storm with grill masters" (how is that a deal???) and other rubbish.

Maccas app tends to give better random coupons/specials for me these days (got a random $3 McClassic the other day and routinely get $1 sundaes and $2 mcflurries)

    • +3

Maccas app tends to give better random coupons/specials for me these days

I used to get good offers, I don't know what happened but now my offers are $1 small fries and $3 medium coffee. Neither of them are worth considering in the slightest.

      • Yikes $3 medium coffee, whoever at maccas thought that was an offer worthy of a digital coupon is taking the piss…

Edit - just checked my maccas app and ive got a $5 off $5 min spend coupon too! free meal :)

        • same with the $2 cheeseburger. then a couple of days later, up popped a $1.50 cheeseburger. wooooow spoilt for choice there /s

        • +1

Can you pay on the kiosk for the 5 off 5? The bra-stards tried to get me to pay online for one of my accounts.

        • -1

$3 medium barista made, cafe coffee (the only type they do now) is fine, and absolutely a deal compared to everyone else selling barista coffee…

If you're comparing it to $1 servo coffee, or Hungry Jack's coffee; they're not the same.

          • +1

@BradH13: Most cafes I frequent in Melbourne do a standard coffee for $3.50-3.80 regularly… $3 for a "barista" burnt and too-hot coffee at HJs does not compare.

            • @xyron: Eh, a medium coffee is $4 at my work, and we're not even a hipster joint. I've been to places where a medium coffee has cost $5. I'm in SA though.

      • If the offers aren't worth it anymore, try logging out, uninstalling. Come back a month or so later to better deals. I know my deals are shitter compared my friend's, who doesn't really use the app much at all.

        • I got a second account I rarely ever use. For some reason at the moment it's got no offers at all. Might try the uninstall tactic hmmm.

          • @pennypincher98: I haven't tried it myself, but the friend uninstalled. So perhaps it might work. We'll figure out their algorithm as a community, this is just the beginning! 😂

    • I agree. I've used a lot of the Maccas app specials - most of the time it is the deciding factor.

    • I think they've changed their algorithm so that everyone loses at the same time. So having 100 accounts doesn't help score a freebie (which is what I came for).

Saying that, I did get a free medium fries today.

    • I have like 5 mcdonalds accounts. On the rare occasion I go there, I just cycle through it until I find something good but they're usually rubbish deals.

  • +17

Hungry Price Jacks is still trading?

    How?

I agree that the burgers are better there, but holy crap whoever is in charge of their marketing needs to be fired!

First we'll alienate all our loyal customers that use the vouchers in a horrible attempt to force an app on them that doesnt work.
Then we'll get rid of all the actual popular bargains on the vouchers, and force people to play a povo lotto thing on their crap app.
Then we'll bring the vouchers back, but not tell any of the stores… who of course won't accept the vouchers.
Then we'll tell all the stores to accept the vouchers, but crank up the pricing so much that microwaved burgers are actually now well overpriced.

    It's just too hard.

2x Bacon Deluxes for $9.45?!?! That's jousting stick territory, tellem their dreamin! It was literally $7.45 May 2018. I still have the voucher in my download folder!
I get that everything goes up, but not 27% in 18m. Tellem to go get stuffed!

I'll give my money to the other guys.

    • +6

before you could swap whoppers for vegan cheeseburgers so they would be like 7.95 and now they made a standalone voucher and its 10.45!

    • which other guys

  • -7

Hungry Jack's coupons stopped being bargains a long time ago. These posts need to stop.

    • +11

      You sound a bit hangry

    • +10

They should have a voting system for what people think is a good deal.

      • +1

Brilliant! Some sort of system where people can vote on deals and bad deals get ousted. Someone tell the OzB admins.

      • +2

The voting system is flawed. Just take a look at the eBay "deals".

        • +2

I save heaps from eBay deals, dunno about you!

    • +6

Wasn't the 2 whopper jnrs and two small chips 4.95 a year ago. That's a huge increase!!

      • +9

Sure was, it's ridiculous that these posts get so many up votes despite the 50%+ inflation for items.

        • -1

Just because the price increased, doesn't mean it's not a good deal.

    • It's still cheaper than their instore menu boards.

  • The chicken wraps are actually $1 cheaper than the previous deal.

  • Boo..

Bring back the Brekky wrap and hash brown for $3 !!!
    I lived on those things!

  • Better photo possible?

    • +1

It'll be on the hungry jacks site shortly.

  • Yes correct, I used to buy them at $4.95 while back now a rip off going up 65%.

  • +5

HJ's is rising in price as fast as cigarettes.

  • +9

2 bacon deluxes for $9.45?! and they've dropped way down in quality

  • +6

If people want Value just head into KFC for a Zinger Box, $11 of pure chicken pleasure

  • +2

Kind of torn. The prices aren't ridiculous, and I want businesses to succeed. But on the other hand, constant price rises are a bit annoying.

Better value had elsewhere. A kiwi shop I go to does a burger, chips and drink for $10, and the burger is massive. The burger includes, egg, tomato, beetroot, grilled onions, bacon and so on, so great value.

    • +3

Say what u want about the Kiwi's, but god damn do they all know how to do a good burger or fish & chips shop. Have literally never had a bad experience at any of them, they all make giant burgers and decent serves of nice quality chips or sides.

      • +2

Yes! Their chips alongside the burger are actually amazing too lol. The misses asks me to go there specifically for their chips all the time.

    • +4

why would you be emotionally invested in HJ? they're an incredibly huge multinational company, not your mom-and-dad corner shop. punishment for mismanagement is 100% deserved when you have that level of money and market research.

  • +8

    long time HJ's fan here

they lost my patronage when they started charging for heavy

50 or 60 cents depending on where you go

my go to whopper with cheese heavy pickles mayo ketchup and onion was pushing $10

    • there used to be a bloke at my local that'd i'd order from to the point he knew i liked it heavy, told the guys in the back to slap everything in it, even extras that weren't usually free like beet.
haven't seen him for ages :(

    • +1

Me too. Used to go in with vouchers and say simply heavy everything. Used to come out like a brick at no extra cost. Good old days….

  • +3

LMAO no thanks, I am not paying jacked up-prices for straight-out-of-fridge cold burgers.
IMO the best fast food deal right now is $5 KFC fill-up box with extra fries and drink from the feedback receipt reward.

  • might be irrelevant but has anyone ever won pancakes on the SHAKE n WIN app? ive received every breakfast prize except for pancakes.

  • +2

Has anyone had any luck using the whopper voucher for 2 rebel whoppers?

    • +3

When I would go to HJs a little while back, the night time manager would always do it for me. Every other clerk has said no.

      • +3

Thanks for the reply! Sounds like that manager was a bit of a rebel

        • +3

Haha! Most definitely. I would always hear him shout "make both of those rebels", as their systems obviously don't allow for the change in burgers.

But I see I'm not the only one who enjoys the rebels!

  • -8

I don't even bother with these anymore. My go-tos are the $4 Shake N Win Whopper or cheesy cheeseburger with the receipt voucher.

  • +1

Do i need to print these for using ??

    • +4

No just show them the photo or PDF.

    • +4

      Phone is fine.

  • +3

Here is the link to the PDF that you can read

    https://www.hungryjacks.com.au/Upload/HJ/Media/Voucher/HJ_Se…

Sorry wrong link .. these are the 2020 ones

    https://www.hungryjacks.com.au/Upload/HJ/Media/Voucher/HJ-De…

    • These expire 20 January.

  • +1

Wait, so are HJ's still pulling that bull about physical vouchers only? Or have they dropped that and phone is fine again?

  • +6

I went to HJ's Circular Quay yesterday and showed them a voucher on my phone but they won't accept it. I asked for the manager. He came out and said that I have to print it first and then they will accept it.
This is completely ridiculous! Even airlines accept very expensive tickets on your phone. HJ wants you to print the whole page with the vouchers, then cut out a relevant one. What a waste paper, ink, etc.

    • +6

I was once refused a voucher because it was printed in black and white. They told me I need to print in in colour.

    • +2

The CQ store has always been run by bastards.. they say they are a "premium location store" and don't have to do any sort of promos/vouchers if they don't want… I haven't been back there for many years

    • +2

Leave them a bad review ;)

      • I did.

  • HJs loves our environment, god bless them.

  • If these are discounted, what are the original prices? Closer to KFC’s pricing I think?
