Validity of 'Eligible Items' eBay "Deals"?

It seems as though these posts only serve to take advantage of this (your) platform by driving traffic to eBay without a clear indication as to what the deal is.
In most cases they just leave users confused as to what the hell the deal/s actually is (or if there are any).

Should vague 'eligible items' posts be banned?

  • The premise of your question is not quite accurate.

    • If there is a deal, for example eBay, where we DON'T know what the eligible items are, then the deal is removed.
    • If there is a deal, for example eBay, where we DO know what the eligible items are, then the deal is fine.

This ebay deal originally was posted without knowing what was eligible a few days previously and was removed per our guidelines thats state that:

Deal posts that reference an upcoming sale or deal without information about any specific offer, or have an unknown/indefinite start date may be unpublished. Please post only when at least a product price or a specific discount is known, and include that in the description. Please note that up to XX% off discounts are not specific discounts.

I find it convenient to have all eBay codes listed on ozbargain. Sometimes it does work so is a bargain imo
Is there a way to have codes on the ozbargain eBay page without an active deal? If no then I think they should stay

    • eBay now displays eligible codes (if there are any) on item listings so this doesn't seem as useful, now.

I've found that it is not always so. The 15% off during Black Friday stopped showing in the listing even though it did apply.
Also items under the value of the min spend never show it

    • Current eBay coupon codes can be found on the Ozbargain eBay Store Page. Most are fed through deals however some may be loaded by our sister coupon site Couponese

      • Yeah, that was my point. I check that page whenever I'm about to make a purchase on eBay.
If we removed the deals then not all codes will appear

The benefit of not banning them is clear - people get deals from them. I have in the past and I suppose that I will in the future. What is the benefit of banning them?

    • The gripe should be with eBay. Not OzB. eBay are the ones that muddied the water. I hate it. But I don't look at OzB for solution.

The gripe is people who can't take advantage of deals want them banned. I bet most of the voters don't even have eBay Plus.

People really struggle to comprehend "if the deal doesn't apply to me, ignore it".

  • It seems that 'eligible items' as a general bargain should not be posted here - they should be added to couponese so the codes still show up.

Individual items that make use of the coupon code can be posted here if they are a genuine bargain, but until Ebay allows us to search for the items, or at least list all items in the sale on one page that can be filtered, then the deals should be treated like spam.

The results of the poll are fairly clear - the vast majority agree that these should not be permitted.
