  • Not really much a difference with other suppliers:
    Price Pirate $437 http://tiny.cc/aji4i

BTW: The Good Guys' price is $556 not $652 http://tiny.cc/33nkp

About the retail price who cares, they can even mark it $1,000!

My friend got the Good Guys salesman down to $ 345.. I wonder if anyone did better lol.

This is the DC29 multi floor not the previous model.

Unless somethings changed…I love my Dyson! It sucks bigtime!

I got one of these bad boys about 2 weeks ago, our rental house in the 4 years I have lived in it has never looked the same, the amount of dust this thing picked up was amazing. It killed me to spend that much on a vacuum but don't regret it for a second now!

    • +1

I think for someone to achieve such dramatic results, they must have not vacuumed in months/years but received a temporary burst of motivation from buying the new product :D

Pretty much any decent vacuum will have very good dirt removal performance. I've long suspected in the case of Dysons that perceptions are skewed by the transparent receptacle - the results are obvious in the canister while something like a Miele provides very little feedback.

The Dyson's really do look cheap and nasty next to made in Euro brands like Electrolux and Miele. Get this instead, http://www.electrolux.com.au/Products/Vacuums/Canisters/ZUA3….

It may look like a retarded Bumble Bee but quality compared to the nasty Dyson is 10 times higher.

I bought a dyson based on research, not on looks

      • what kind of research did you do?
can you please provide some links if possible

edit: please see my reply to Dreamscene below where I have put up some results from a Choice Magazine review

I don't fully agree with you that the Dyson is nasty and that the Electrolux is 10 times better

I do agree that the Electrolux Ultra Active (ZUA3860P) vacuum is worth a look at considering it scored quite well in a Choice magazine (Feb 2011 edition) review of high end vacuum cleaners.

The Choice magazine review scored the Electrolux Ultra Active ZUA3860P in 4th place but it was also the best Bin(or bagless) type vacuum in that review. The Bosch BSG81266AU/10 (1st place), Electrolux Ultra One Z8821 PT (2nd place) & Wertheim W4412 (3rd place) vacuums were Bag type vacuum cleaners.

Unfortunately the Dyson DC29 has never been reviewed by Choice. The Dyson models I can see in the Choice review are the Dyson DC14(6th place), Dyson DC33(11th place) & Dyson Compact DC26 HEPA(14th place).

Use a Dyson at home, some serious suction power on it!

  • +1

    Yeah Dyson's really suck. hard.

When I got mine first I used my old hoover and then used the new Dyson afterwards on the same room and it took up a huge amount more. I was worried the carpet would break. :P

    This is a great deal.

    • +2

HA HA! Same thing here! I felt like I was 'tearing the carpet up' when I first used mine! Drycleaner sent around by the landlord to clean the carpets was a little miffed! He asked what the hell I used to clean it before he came around. He couldn't believe it was only because it was a brand new Dyson!

I have a Dyson, and thought it was good.

    Then I tried a Rainbow.

Rainbow picks up A LOT more dirt than a Dyson.

I am never wasting money on a Dyson again.

    • spam?

      • I thoughts so too at first, except that this account has lots of posts & has even replied to some of my questions in the past. Seems a crazy amount of effort to go to for 1 item of spam, so I'd suggest it is real feedback.

Have enjoyed using a dyson for more than 2 years. Am very very happy with it. Disclosure, I have used Hoovers and Miele's before. And have also owned a Rainbow. In my book, the rainbow and the Dyson were the best. The only think I didn't like too much with the Rainbow was that I had to fiddle around with a water bowl. That gets quite heavy to lug around. In retrospect, since I didn't actually own the Miele and the Hoover, I don't know if it was a top of the line model or run of the mill - but I can say that they worked heaps better than the cheapies I used to have back when I couldn't afford it. The cheapies had me going back over and over the same spot because it couldn't get the fluff or hair off the tile floor!

One sour note: My Dyson's motor burned out in less than 2 years, which was surprising because I in no way overworked the machine. I must admit I was very very disappointed with that. However, a call to dyson had the motor replaced in less than 3 weeks. The new motor also carries a brand new warranty. So I guess, I can't complain. Another positive is that I noticed that the dust collection canister was scratched when it got returned. (I'm a bit anal about my vacuum so my original was pristine) and I immediately noticed the scratch… another phone call and Dyson shipped me a brand new canister straight away.

  • I picked up one on the weekend for $420 from Clive Anthonys Appliances Now at Mt Gravatt. Rep asked me what price you've seen them for, I quoted $437 Harveys and $430 offered from Good Guys. Having said that we did order a Bosch Pyrolytic HBA73B550A Oven from them at $1700 which was an awesome price for the oven.
