    So amaysime bought jeenee?

Im with jeenee and those plans suck. I pay $20 and everythings unlimited besides data which i have 15GB and on this deal you only get 8???

    • so no deal then?

      • +1

This is definitely a no deal, people mostly use data these days, and here they take 50% of your data and want the same money as before, no deal👎

        • -1

agree. but could that be the reason why they are now part of Amaysim because they cannot afford costs of the extra data. At end of the day, they need make money to keep the business floating.

          • @xmchen: That's called mismanagement then, typically Australian of course, but still, don't you do some basic calculation at least before you offer a product 🤔

          • @xmchen:

cannot afford costs of the extra data

What a load of crap. They buy data for parts of a cent and sell it for dollars.

    • $20 for unlimited + 15gb! is a bargain..

closest i can find to this deal is Boost unlimited 240gb (20gb/month) for $300 upfront (works out to be $25 a month)- https://boost.com.au/shop/300-prepaid/

        • i totally missed out :(

      • +3

It's an OK deal but Circles life are currently smashing them with $18p/m unlimited calls and 23gb data (includes their free 3gb bill shock protection). No contract but the price is valid for only 12 months but not a big deal, they will likely offer a good deal at that time to retain or another provided will have something similar.

    • My partner got an email boosting his data a small bit and my plan price was reduced by about .95 and boosted my data slightly to keep me from leaving. I imagine you will get one too soon. My heart aches that Jeenee is selling out!!! but you really can't beat the prices even if they are not as good as Jeenee was for new customers (I think, anyway???)

    • It's a shame they are 28-day plans and not 30 like most other plans. Over 12 months you end up paying for an extra month on 28-day plans.
Guess it's best to think of these as 4-week plans, not monthly plans.

      • Is it only the new to Jeenee (Amaysim) plans that are 28 days? As I commented below, I am an existing Jeenee customer and my new Vaya plan is monthly, not 28 days.

    • I'm on the same plan have you not gotten the email yet?

We're ringing in the new year with some exciting news - Jeenee Mobile has joined Vaya.

To celebrate, we'll be upgrading your mobile number 04XXXXXX with better inclusions at no extra cost!

      WHAT UPGRADED INCLUSIONS?
You'll get an extra 1GB data and a lower excess data usage rate of $0.0098/MB at no extra cost! Plus, you'll get an additional $450 worth of international calls.

      WHEN IS MY UPGRADE?
Your upgrade will be automatically applied from your next bill cycle on 01 February 2020 onwards. There will be no interruption to your service. Any excess data used before 01 February 2020, will be charged at your old rates.

      WILL YOU CONFIRM MY UPGRADE?
Yes, look out for a confirmation email from Vaya once you've been successfully upgraded.

      HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Over the next month, you might receive one last bill from Jeenee Mobile. From then on, all your bills will be from Vaya (that's us now!).

Please note: In 21 days from now, the Vaya Terms will apply. If you're not happy with these revised terms please get in touch to discuss your options (including any applicable cancellation rights).

      WHO IS VAYA?
Vaya is part of the amaysim Group that was launched in 2010 and is now Australia's 4th largest mobile service provider with over 1 million customers on the Optus network.

    28 days….so you're paying an extra month…

    • +1

LOL Most sellers entice customers with first month free if you sign up for 12 months. This company does the exact opposite (by stealth).

    • yeah gotta multiply their monthly by 1.083 to get the 12 month equivalent price

  • interesting, i got the email saying Vaya Mobile. they the same thing?

    • same thing…Jennee customer will be migrated to Vaya, which is owned by Amaysim.

    • yes. liveconnected->vaya->amaysim, now Jeenee.

  • ÃŒ'm pretty happy - I had my daughter on their $8.91p/m plan (unlimited calls, 1.2gb data) and they've upgraded it to a $8.90p/m Vaya plan with unlimited calls and 2gb of data which is great. Excess data rate has also been lowered which is a bonus.

    • Sorry to be picky, but it's not a 'monthly plan', it's a 4-week plan, so you pay for an extra month over 12 months.

      • According to the email I received, it's a monthly plan, not 28 days. Here's the CIS - https://www.vaya.net.au/downloads/VAYA-CriticalInformationSummary$8.90Unlimited2GB.pdf

        • Maybe the auto renewal occurs on day 28 but your paying for the whole month???

This would suggest to me that on day 29 your locked into the next monthly cycle as far as canceling? Not real sure probably requires a call to confirm it.

          • @Sunshines bright: I think Simmo may just be mistaken. If you look at Vaya's website, their plans are monthly, not 28 days. If you look at Amaysim, that's where the 28 days comes in which is irrelevant to existing Jeenee customers.

          • +1

@Sunshines bright: I think you are correct, this must have been updated, which is great to see, my error.
Actually, it looks like they bill you for the exact number of days for that month, so if it's a 31 day month, you get the full 31 days, if it's a 28 day month you get 28 days.
They bill from the 1st of each month until the last day of each month, the bill is generated on the 5th of each month for that month.

Jeenee was a nonprofit ages ago from their old pages"…a range of disabilities to suit their individual needs. The Jeenee Mobile Story. Jeenee Mobile grew from a simple idea, to help ALL Australians be connected." The actual page is now unavailable but I think when they moved from nonprofit to profit it got too much for them or it was better to sell out to the highest bidder???? wish I knew what happened??? anyone know?

    • Yes, I remember this too! Can't remember when the change occurred but they had that page up when I signed up in 2017.

      EDIT - found it

      Who we are

Jeenee Mobile is a small, Australian, social enterprise mobile provider. Our small size allows us to focus on providing the best possible service to our customers, while continuing to put our profits towards helping others in the community.

      What we do

We sell mobile phone plans and use the profits to donate free services, develop accessible technology and run technology training programs to help people living with disabilities improve their lives.

      Why we do it

The support of our customers allows us to make a massive difference in the lives of people living with disabilities, which would never have been possible without Jeenee Mobile. We find this very rewarding, and many of our customers feel the same way.

    • Looks like it actually changed in December 2015 (from a not for profit)

Jeenee Communications - same team, same objectives, different structure
In December 2015 the existing management team formed Jeenee Communications Pty Ltd and purchased Jeenee Mobile from Community Connections Australia. The new company was formed as a Social Enterprise with the objectives of continuing the journey begun by Community Connections Australia whilst at the same time furthering the development the customised technology solutions. Jeenee Communications Pty Ltd would continue with the same management team and staff and the same objectives, but with a different corporate structure.

Why change from a not for profit?
To continue with the ambitious plans of assisting everyone, irrespective of individual need, capability or capacity to live the lives of their choosing with the assistance of mobile technology, Jeenee Mobile needed to raise more money. The corporate structure of a not-for-profit prevented the ability of raising this money through investors. Therefore the decision was taken to form Jeenee Communications as a proprietary limited company with equity shareholders contributing the money needed to continue our journey. Our objectives remain the same, and our constitution requires that a minimum percentage of our surpluses are returned to our core purpose.

I'm always been a bit suspect about the word "not-for-profit". Doesn't that mean that companies will just look to reinvest "profits" back into the business including salaries? Technically meaning that no profit is generated?

No deal listed, this is the standard link to amaysim's prepaid offerings, anyone visiting amaysim's website will see the exact same thing jeenee is simply linking to amaysim now it seems.

  • +1

    Quick comparison:
    Jeenee/Amaysim $20 28-day plan, ~$260/year, 8GB/month on Optus no lock in.
Boost $150 prepaid (currently on sale ~$130/year), 6.7GB/month on Telstra with included international calls to 25+30 countries.
    Take your pick :-)

    • Lol go for 30 dollars u get 40gb

      • If you are into more data, JB Hifi deal is better though: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/511348
Taking the $400 gift card into account, this plan is effectively $31.67/month for 60GB, with Telstra.

        • That's 400 gc. If I don't need then is useless. If you takeaway the 400gc then is not worth it compare to amaysim

  • RIP Jeenee, will need to port out my services if they enforce their plans =(

  • Great deal for 30 dollars for 40gb. Best deal out there so far.

  • +1

I've been using Amaysim for 2 years now, they're excellent and I haven't had any issues.
