Note that MGO 50 is the lowest quality Manuka honey you can find. It's ok if you like the taste, but don't expect any healing powers: https://www.manukahealth.co.nz/en-nz/manuka-honey/what-is-mg…

Healing power of Manuka honey has been questionable all the time. Until today there's no solid scientific research can back up that claim

      • Either way, this is no more than normal honey, call it manuka is misleading, you could get that level using an unwashed Manuka honey jar.

      • Its a good antibacterial ointments. Pretty much just sore throat and that's it.

to those unaware of the MGO v UMF rating conversions, this as a MGO 50+ is a pretty poor grading being UMF5+ is about MGO 80

No surprise, particularly since they highlight Multifloral. Even assuming it is genuine it is mostly not from Manuka anyway. People might as well buy a few litres of the cheapest honey availab and tip a 250ml jar of decent Manuka in it.

I see lots of the Chinese buyers buy heaps of these at chemshit worehouse

  • Didn't Aldi used to sell manuka honey? Can anyone remember how much it cost and the packet size and strength?

    Thanks!

    • Yeah its on the back wall with the other condiments at my local Aldi. I'm on keto so I don't look in that section, and can't help with the price, but it has certainly been there for some time.

      • Thanks. Me, too, although I don't actually call it keto.

If for gifts for people overseas where it's really expensive.

BTW can anyone tell me how this compares to the regular one on the shelf? Thanks.

        • Very poor..like less than UMF 5+

    • Think it was $9.99 for MGO 30+ 350g

I have heard they are getting genuine snake oil in the next catalogue so might be worth holding off.

    • +1

But what's the snake oil score?

My homeopath doesn't recommend anything under 3, unless it's diluted to increase its potency.

Bramwells or Aldi honey were found to be adulterated or fake, I personally avoid this and Callipo at Coles & Woolies

Pretty harsh on the frozen fruit snacks…..

Haha! Pretty sure Jet_k meant to say Capilano.

    • Apologies Typo above I meant Capilano

Personally I'd be stocking up on any quality honey given the seemingly nation wide bushfires..

    • Good point. Although we should be trying to support Australian beekeepers and Australian honey, not this NZ rubbish.
