3 person dome tent for $24 bucks. Not bottom of the range and good reviews on the BCF website, Picked mine up today and am writing this from inside it, easy to set up and very comfortable. Floorspace is 195cm x 205cm, 1 window and 1 door with all the way round insect screen. Pegs might bend when hammering into the ground but pegs are cheap and for this price you can't go wrong. Around 70% off retail. No stock at Bankstown and Wetherill Park.

  • Great! How long does it take to build it?

    • +3

Any simple dome like this is 5 minutes. Two poles across each other, put the fly on then peg out.

    • +2

Honestly, first time and only about 20 minutes maximum.

As Hinee said 5 minutes if you know what to do and have someone to help

    • Thanks both, I'll get it :)

  • +32

Great description, written with intent and you didn't wander off.

    • It depends if you have your flaps open or closed ;-)

  • +2

Grabbed one thanks… looks like the kids will be doing some backyard camping

    • +9

      nice. whose kids?

      • +6

This will get them to come off the roof

        • +2

Mine will put this on the roof sigh

      • Maybe not mine after zeitgeb3r's comments…

Then again, I've heard of so many people doing it

    • Did this once. Never again.
We had a home invasion and I was attacked while asleep in the tent.
At least inside your home, you're more protected than a flimsy tent, thus buying more time to call the cops.

      • +2

God damn, sorry to hear that. Hope you are ok.

      • Had to be the first thing that came to my mind too, when looking at this for the family.
And if they're smart and efficient, they'd just pull the pegs out, and wrap us all up in the tent, like some weatherproof pinata.

Must be a rough neighbourhood! Sorry to hear that, it isn't normal.

        • -4

          Can happen anywhere.

  • +9

It is $23.99 at BCF in WA, i bought one from belmont (WA) and can confirm it is a good quality one. Can fit 2 adult with extra room left. Already used for camping and i don't regret buying this if this helps anybody make up their mind.

    • +1

How is the slope on the walls? I'm 190cm and often find that I'm touching the ends on these.

      • +1

The slope isn't too bad. This is a tent for sleeping in, and maybe a board game is a boi ut the most you can do inside.

        • Thanks, i get that. The problem with touching the inner+outer shell is that you get wet from the condensation :)

          • +2

@Supercool: I slept in it last night, it's very well ventilated even when closed up. 25 degrees last night with 2 adults and 2 kids and no condensation even though it was completely closed.

Can't say how good it will be in the rain but according to one of the reviews it's fine

  • +2

FWIW, I bought this for a camping trip in October and it didn’t hold up too well in medium wind. When I was packing it up, one of the fibreglass pole sections split right down the middle. I returned it for a full refund at BCF and ended up getting a Coleman Sundome, which has been much better (albeit more expensive).

    YMMV I guess.

    • +4

You always have to be careful setting up our taking down a tent in wind. They are much stronger when erected and pegged.

      • +20

        hehe erected hehe pegged xd

I weigh just over 70, you?

      • Funny, and thank you for your esteemed contribution. A thoroughly inspiring and informing response, though sadly the question still beckons.

        • I am glad you saw the funny side of it as that was the only intent.

        • Definitely funnier than you, sourgrapes.

      • I weigh just over 70

you need to head over to the food deals

    • +1

Maybe a 1 or 2 kgs at a guess. When packed its about 50cm long only, can easily hike with this tent as part of your kit

  • +3

Bought one since I was looking for a sun shade type for <$40. This will do nicely for extended stays at the beach.

    • +2

There are better options around this price eg bunnings for pop up shades

    • +1

This thing will be a complete nightmare to setup and pack away at the beach.

      • Simple tent like this doesn't take long to set up once you work it out. Reckon you could get it up in under five minutes, which isn't a big deal if you plan on spending the day there.

        • -1

Its stupid bringing a full tent to the beach mucking around with poles in 30 degree heat

          • @richmond12: If you're going to be at the beach for any decent amount of time, I would have thought there would be no issues - you spend longer messing around with sunscreen

    • +2

This thing gets HOT inside, it would make a terrible sun shade, good sauna though

      • +1

If there's any sort of breeze this tent is well ventilated and will stay cool. Admittedly the weather has been great but last night 2 adults and 2 kids and was perfectly comfortable

  • $33.98 delivered minus a little cashback not too bad will give it a razz!

  • +1

What this really means is 2 people comfortably, with just enough room for your things.

    • +1

Or keep your things in the car and fit 3 easily, 4 at a push

      • 4 with or without a japanese train pusher?

  • +1

Is this good for the beach?

    • +3

Will pick up today / tomorrow and try over the weekend. The beach is my intended use for this.

    • Thanks! Bought one at Osborne Park.

      • I ordered c&c last night for pickup at Osb Park, got a call this morning to say they did not stock this clearance item. They offered the 4 person for the same price - winning! Hopefully they'll offer the same to you.

        • You are lucky! 3 person one is out of stock in Perth area and can't be ordered for pickup. So I just ordered 4 person one for $32.7 this morning.

          • @waverock: $32.70 is still a good deal!

          • @waverock: Would be happy to swap + price difference with my 3-person I just picked up from Cockburn (if you're keen)

            • @moorey: I picked up the 4 person version today - it was bigger than I expected but kids love it! Thanks for the offer anyway :)

    Tell me you're not serious….

  • Bought one pick up Keysborough VIC. Thanks op.

  • Thinking about getting this to use as a spraying tent, anyone got a better solution? for spraying the odd bit of furniture with this new spray gun i have no idea how to use :P

    • +1

1.3m high. It had better be very small furniture!

  • +3

For those that are wonder about the poles / tent set up. Its 2 x sectioned fibreglass poles which you piece together and erect the mesh part of the tent with ease.
Second part is the top layer which is just a piece of nylon that drapes over the mesh dome. For grass area / dirt the 4 inch pegs will suffice. But for the beach totally useless so I'll have to figure out some way of weighing this top part down.

Very well ventilated as the entire thing is mesh and sand /insects wont get in. Over all for $24 its a bargain.

  • Ordered 1 for collection from Tuggerah.

Thanks, kids will love this for backyard camping.

  • Strange… shipping is $8 through ebay (Sydney Metro, $10 through BCF website) and it shows as available for C&C in more stores too.

    • When I checked ebay it said the seller was on holiday so I didn't post about it. Annoying as why would BCF be on holiday, and I had an ebay voucher!

  • no stock in 7 stores i searched!
