Just stumbled on what appears to be a very low price for this coveted ultra-wide Canon EF zoom lens. Not sure if current cashback offers are applicable to Amazon AU purchases or not.

I prefer the 8-15mm fisheye
What is the usual price?
RRP is $4K!
Great deal, thanks!
I often think of switching to a Full Frame camera, and then I'm reminded how expensive the lenses are. My entire M4/3 setup cost less than this lens
Not really a valid comparison unless you are comparing apples with apples though.
There is no m4/3 lens that has the same field of view as this lens, or at the same quality.
Agreed, I just meant overall the prices of "pro" FF lenses are crazy sometimes.
I've got a Loawa 7.5mm (15mm FF equivalent) which I paid $750 for. I know they can't really compare at all, but it is the widest lens you can get for M4/3 (I think). I can't imagine going any wider. The thing is also tiny!
look like not a thread for you …:)
Olympus do a 7 - 14 mm f/2.8. Excellent lens too.
@wittyusername: Which becomes 14mm to 28mm. I know it's within 3mm, but it's not comparable. 3mm makes a fair difference a the ultra wide end.
@Jenny Death: Not to mention f2.8 on MFT only lets in as much light as f5.6 on full frame.
@Jenny Death: I was replying to RickyBaker who said that 7.5 is the lowest you can get for M4/3.
@wittyusername: True.
Unless you're making 200k a year doing professional photography, Micro 4/3 is fine.
Don't kid yourself, you're only posting JPEGs on IG anyway.Eww who shoots in JPEG.
@Tacooo: No one. But you don't post RAW to IG do you?
@serpserpserp: No but I don't post JPEG either. PNG or bust.
The funny bit is I probably have more m4/3 kit than you …
no way any m4/3 lense that even come close to this lens in terms of functionality, even using this lens on a crop sensor
If you had this 11-24 on a crop sensor body, the Panasonic Leica 10-25 is about the closest similar field of view in m4/3.
Plot twist though, its basically the same price as the Canon 11-24.
I guess it depends on what functionality you're referring too. A lot of telephoto M4/3 lenses are a lot more practical to use than equivalent FF lenses.
Personally, weight and size are a huge factor for me. I'd prefer to go with something smaller and lighter even if the quality isn't as good, because that is more functional to me
Sounds like sony mirrorless would be much more up your alley if you ever did want to go full frame. Their 12-24mm f4 lens is a bit cheaper than this canon even when not on sale, and it’s also 600g vs the 1200g of the canon. Tamron also make some great cheaper fast zooms. An f2.8 lens on FF has the same light gathering ability and depth of field as f1.4 on micro 4/3 due to the sensor size difference.
What do you mean in terms of functionality?
There are also full frame options that are cheaper than this lens, but the quality is less, as it would be on your setup
Found out from my recent overseas travel, my 12mm equivalent Note10 more useful.
"Useful" is subjective.
