I'm not one for fancy stories and such, just a simple man…
i bought 10 of these canned tomatoes on the strength of the previous story / testimonial. The mutti brand tomatoes do seem to have a more vibrant and deep red colour, however, I can't taste the difference between these tomatoes and the 69c ones from Aldi.
It's important to see how watery is the tin inside, good brands give you more tomatoes bad brands more watery juice. Once cooked with the watery product you have very little sauce as final product.
As an Italian who was brought up on making sauce bottles and peeled tomatoes straight from the fresh plants, having the mindset that store bought stuff is always bad and a waste of money, even this post has pushed me to try out these tomatoes.

I wanna try San Marzano canned tomatoes to see if the hype is deserved, but wouldn't have a clue where to find them in this country.
Coles in Birkenhead Point had cans of San Marzano tomatoes for a while in the Italian area of their "international" section. So maybe try the same section but in a Coles that serves an Italian-influenced area?
