[Back Order] Xiaomi Smart Laundry 2 IN 1 10KG | Washer Dryer Combo $1100 Delivered @ Lectory

101

Now that I have a decent solar setup thanks to the controversial Solar Power Nation deal, I’m after a washer/dryer combo to streamline my life when it comes to washing our family’s clothes.

Will just set a delayed start until peak solar time and have the whole load washed and dried by the time we’re home from work. What a dream. Hope the 2.0 folds the clothes too 👌

This unit gets great reviews. The only down side is that if u want to do a wash then dry, you can only put in 6kg to start with.

Enjoy!

Would you buy a fridge from an Eskimo?

    • +12

Sure. Better than from Harvey Norman.

    • +2

My parents used to have an Eskimo fridge that lasted for decades https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eskimo_(appliances)

Hi AskMe69, what do u mean mate?

Do u mean China is really clean so they don’t need to make washing machines? I’ve been there a couple of times. I wouldn’t describe what I saw as clean…

      I don’t understand the analogy…

  • I'm in the market for a new 2 in 1 but not sure if I want to take the punt on this.

6kg drying is pretty good for a 2 in 1

Washer machine in AU is much more cheaper than in China.
This one is selling for about $500 AUD in China. The quality is equal to a AUD $300-400 machine which sold in Australia, and also no warranty.
If you want to spend 1100+, it's better to buy BOSCH.

    • +5

Warranty is handled by the Australian seller. Would love to see a comparable system for the same price :)

      • +4

How long is the warranty? Does it cover part & labour?

Some sellers require you to pay the shipping for broken item back to their warehouse plus shipping cost of new item back to you. Some only provide parts and not labour so you have to do your own troubleshooting.

For peace of mind I would spend a little bit extra getting well known brand with parts and labour warranty. 0

      • So you after this because it can operate through mobile phone ? Lol

        • I found that funny too, like connect an auto/wireless powerboard/point to your machine and you'd have equivilent functionality. There's actually a popular Chinese company that does this sort of thing, can't remember what they're called though… /s

    • This is a washing machine + dryer combo. Something manufactured in the country it originates from would be usually always cheaper over there than here.

On a side note, these combo machines have certainly come down in price. There are a few machines under 1000 on TGGs website

      • +2

A lot of things from non chinese brands are still made in the same place.

  • Is there a coupon code? Showing as 1195.xx for me

Hmm Lectory… History of mailing the wrong things, long back orders, forgetting to reply to emails and now currently ignoring me over a warranty claim for items I've already had to pay an electrician to install (6mth after purchase) and will need to pay again to have them refit. First contacted them re: the issue on Oct 23 and nothing has been actioned.

    Caveat emptor

    • +1

      Oh really. That sucks.

  • +5

Honestly, no matter how good the unit is, spending $1k + on an oversea model is a bit risky especially something to do with electricity and water, I do trust XiaoMi product but i don't trust the logistic while arriving to Australia.

  • +12

Just a word of advice, if you have the space always buy a washer and dryer separately. Across all brands no matter how much you pay the TCR(Technical call rate) and SCR(Service call rate) exceed 25% whereas for washer and dryer separately is around 5-10% depending on the brand. Also remember the drying load most is about 1/2 the wash load so if you really want them dry you will have to do 2 drying run cycles. Just my 2 bobs but coming with some industry background.

    • Thanks mate. I appreciate it. I do have the room. Which type of dryer do you recommend? Btw is there a combo washer dryer that bucks that trend and is more reliable?

      • I've got a 15 year old LG washer dryer which now has some issues - washes ok but had inlet valves fail a few years ago - dryer doesn't work anymore, etc. I have an even older dyer which always worked better… I'm assuming newer models are much better and I really like everything Xiaomi I've bought (phones, fans, air purifiers, thermometers, etc.) so this is very tempting, especially as the specs are better considering price…looking in the shops and online there doesn't appear to be a clear winner… Ideally I want another combo because I don't really have the space for the dryer (upside down on my fridge!!) and I try to dry stuff without mostly anyway. Any good advice on current models out there is appreciated..

        • Also after feedback on best combo out there

Depends on what you want to save short term or long term and also if you are a greenie and worry about greenhouse gases.

Short term by a condenser dryer, long term heat pump.

Of the brands probably F&P or Bosch, you could pay more for a Meile but really I would not spend too much coin on a dryer when you are in summer especially.

        • Why short term condenser? Isn’t heat pump the better tech?

And yeah, Bosch are good. We have had bosch dishwashers in different houses and never had a problem with one.

          Thanks

          • +2

@Bellpop: You pay more upfront for heat pump dryer. Technology wise it is a refrigerant gas as against a concealed Heater. What is better for clothes is much of a muchness. HeatPump take slightly longer to dry. Depend on number of cycles you use per week to figure out how much you save against a 6 star heat pump to a 2 1/2 star condenser dryer.

Have the money go for a heat pump. Personally I would take a condenser just my choice. To save the upfront 700 extra you pay you would need 3 years min plus doing at least 1 load a day.

            • @soyea: Thanks mate. Great feedback :)

              • +1

@Bellpop: No worries! That’s the least an ozbargainer can do! 😊

                • +1

@soyea: FYI I’m gonna ditch the combo plan and go for the biggest Bosch heat pump dryer I can buy!

        • How about Asko? Is it a good brand for dryer?

          • @Jeckbox: Nope! Spend your money on Miele if you want to but rather just find the upper segment Bosch made in Germany model.

        • We just bought an F&P so no info on long term use but works very well so far. Good experiences across appliances with F&P and Bosch.

I have a small place so when the Bosch washer died after many years I decided to get rid of the dryer and go the one unit to save space. Separate machines obviously mean that you can wash/dry at the same time but I don't use the dryer a lot so the space saving was definitely worth it. Most of the time I use the clothes line.

I bought the Beko combo for under 1100, can't recall exact figure. Might have even been less than 1K. I think there was a deal because Beko was trying to break into the Aus market.
Really happy with it. Flexible programs and doesn't use water on the drying cycle unlike the Bosch and others that I compared at the time. It has a 30 minute daily express cycle which I use for 99% of my washes.

5 year full warranty and 10 year inverter warranty. Touch wood I never I have to use it.

    • +2

Totally agree with soyea. Two separate machines is the way to go, especially with a family where you might often need to do more than one load in a day. You might need more than one load to keep colours separate from whites or clothes separate from towels etc … This way you can dry one load while the next one is washing. Only get a combo if you lack space in laundry. Also, if one machine breaks down, you don't need to replace both.

P.S. The best way to use solar power to do your laundry is to hang your clothes on the line.

      • Yeah! Wash while the sun is up and dry outside while it's still up

  • +2

Choice magazine does not recommend these combos.
Besides, how much water does it use in drying? And how long does it take for drying?
I live in a rental and I have just stacked dryer on top of washer, separated by a thick rubber mat which if I remember correctly, GG charged me around $40 and which I considered a rip off but it absorbs the vibrations well. No problem so far in 6 years though I rarely use dryer.

Same here, never had any issues with the mat. I paid $25 from appliances online

      • Look up britex.
        Might be useful.

how much water does it use in drying?

That's when it uses the most, the drying cycle.

  • +3

their stuff used to be really cheap for pretty comparable quality. Now they're not so cheap. They've lost some of their draw. You are buying a washer from a new company not known for washers, and you're not getting much of a discount.

Who need dryer if you live in Australia?

    • In winter when in rains for a week.

      • winter in perth ?

        • Yep

  • +1

A good inverter washing machine uses very little energy, I just use my standard dryer on a TPlink smart plug and load it in the morning to use the solar energy to dry the clothes.

    • That’s clever. Nice work.

    • how do you control turning is on and off? like the power to dryer i understand but what about the actual operation?

      • Dryer is just a simple timer, so set timer close door. Turn smart plug on through phone after solar is pumping
