What's wrong in asking the price ? Why negative votes..I don't think I have asked something which I shouldn't have…

    $1395

    Is this a good deal?

I can get a 75R6 for 1168 plus 145 postage (1313) on ebay from videopro with the code PLATEAU

    • +3

But Video Pro (and Bing Lee, Appliance Central et al), if you are located in WA, for big screen TVs: “Item does not post to Australia”. I did not know Queensland is a foreign country ;-)

  • It was cheaper on Black Friday sale. R7 has 200hz motion rate but R6 has 100hz only.

    • +1

2020 is almost here but you still fall for this old marketing trick?

      • +2

Native refresh rate is commonly half the effective refresh rate, which hisense calls smooth motion and tcl calls clear motion. My point is, the native refresh rate of r7 is 100hz and r6 is 50hz. Good thing is JB Hifi normally prints a tvs native refresh rate on the price sticker. So you can check and dont fall for the gimmick

I don't see how their comment represents a falling for the trick… They made a factual statement. A statement that had meaning even if it assumed people knew what assumptions underpin it.

        • +1

The fact that koolchamp81 put Hz onto the "motion rate" amply demonstrated the marketing trick has worked.

  • This or the TCL 75” P8MR?

    • -2

TCL is normally pretty crap quality.

I would buy a Hisense any day over anything made by TCL.

      • Thanks for the reply!

I looked at the TCL in store and the screen looked pretty decent. I would be using an Apple TV with it, so no need for their inbuilt software.

      • +1

TCL and Hisense are usually about on par with each other. Their higher end products compete with the big name brands (typically $1000+ for a 65") and their cheaper stuff fills the gap below those but above the cheap Chinese stuff (typically ~$600 for a 65").

We are going to have to agree to disagree on Hisense vs TCL

IMHO TCL is on par with Soniq - in other words, utter rubbish.

          For big screen TV's:

          TCL < Hisense < LG < Sony < Samsung

          • @aussietivoman: Kurtrog I'd recommend you ask a couple of the guys in the retail stores near you.

Give them the TCL and Hisense model numbers - tell them it's between the two, price isnt important.

I'd be surprised if any of them recommend the TCL over the Hisense.

      • Aussietivoman TCL is the fastest growing TV brand in the USA. Its also the number 2 best selling TV there. I listen to a home theatre podcast that raves about the bang for buck of TCL TVs. Can't be all that and as crappy as you say. What do you base your opinion on?

        https://hdguru.com/tcl-reaches-no-2-ranked-u-s-tv-brand-in-s…

        • TCL sell a lot of televisions because they are cheap.

          That doesn't make them good.

        • +2

TCL don't sell their decent Tv's in Aus, only in North America hence the good reviews.

  • Is there an equivalent for Samsung. I see 65" and then 82" but no 75"?

  • IMO the better deal is the R6 55" for $595 at Harvey Norman and JB.

    • +2

Seems a bit pointless to be commenting on deals for 55s in a 75 inch deal though, yeah?

      • Why? Do you have a crystal ball and know the only reasons why anyone would be looking in the comments of any deal posted on OzB?

My comment is no less pointless than yours.

        • +1

Yes, I have a crystal ball.

And yes, I know all the reasons why people look at comments for 75s.

Sorry for the confusion - should have stated all that in my comment.

  • Why wouldn't you buy a Samsung for $3 more?
    https://www.countdowndeals.com.au/samsung-ua75ru7100wxxy-75-…

    • How does this fare against the Hisense models?

      • The Samsung is a current Generation TV, and this Hisense R6 is 2 revisions behind their current R8 flagship.
JB sells both this R6 and the Samsung, so best to check them out side by side for yourself
        https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-series-7-ru7100-7…

        • Both these TVs have the 4k and have the same refresh rate of 100Hz Motion Rate.

The only obvious difference I see if bluetooth connectivity.

        • What do you mean the Samsung is a current gen TV? The R6 is as current as the RU7100. The RU7100 is behind the RU8000, Q60, Q75, Q80, Q90.

          • -2

@aja12: The R6 was released in 2016, the 7100 was released in 2018.

The Q series is a whole different category and price range so not relevant.

What retailer has the 75 Inch RU8000?

            • @petestrash: The Hisense R6 is a 2019 model (P=2018, R=2019 and rumours of next year's TVs are U=2020).

            • @petestrash: No, the R Series is Hisense’s 2019 line up. There’s no such thing as a 2016 R6. And the RU7100 was released in 2019, not 2018. 2018 was the NU series.

              • -2

@aja12: If there is no such thing as a 2016 75R6 why are the first 2 results from this Google search dated August 2016 showing the 75R6? One is Hisense, the other is Graysonline selling refurbs.

                • -1

@petestrash: Your Google search appears to be confusing you, but you are wrong. There is no such thing as a Hisense 2016 R series. If you do a bit more research instead of a quick Google, you’ll come to realise this. The letter in model number demotes the year of release.
