Info about the film: THE GUARD is released nationwide on 25th August.

THE GUARD is a comedy-thriller set on the west coast of Ireland. Sergeant Gerry Boyle is a small-town cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humour, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door.

However, despite the fact that Boyle seems more interested in mocking and undermining Everett than in actively working on solving the case, Boyle finds that circumstances keep pulling him back into the thick of it. First his tiresomely enthusiastic new partner disappears, then his favourite hooker attempts to blackmail him into turning a blind eye, and finally the drug-traffickers themselves try to buy him off as they have every other member of the local police force.

These events unwittingly offend Boyle's murky moral code. He realises that he needs to take matter into his own hands, and the only person he can trust is Everett. And so the scene is set for an explosive finale.

  • Works out good for me seeing that I missed the previous sessions…

  • 10am on a Sunday morning… :O

    • outside i see the rain is fall-alling woahhh

      • Inside I'm slowly dying
But the rain will hide my crying, crying, crying

    • I went to the 10am session yesterday at Collaroy. It was a fantastic movie, alot of older people there though for some reason, dont think they were too impressed with some of the racist jokes. I wouldnt normally go to movies at that sort of time, but it was rainy anyway.

  • Cheers, something to do next Monday night :)

  • Thanks OP :)

    Going tonight

  • Note. I just received notice that the Hoyts Melbourne Central session has been relocated to Chadstone. Way too far away from me, so I have to give up my tickets :( I think ID might be involved, so I don't think I can re-allocate here.

    • The employee didn't even glance at my id, but somebody did collect the ticket at the door, presumably to verify attendance percentage.

  • Yep I too have received that email.
No way I can get to Chadstone by 6:30pm, pretty poor choice of new location, I guess on the plus side they didnt cancel so at least others can make it.
I will be interested to know what kind of turn out they get?

They do not need ID, you just hand them the paper and go straight in. You will be able to reallocate no worries at all.

  • Too late now :P
