We live in a rural area, and our only internet is the NBN satellite service. We used to be with Bordernet, we were with them for at least ten years, then their service started to slip. We changed to IPSTAR, and so far its good. Looking at my account this morning, I noticed that we had used 65% of our data usage. The it went on to say that we had used 35% NordVPN, 16% Microsoft,7.1% YouTube and a few others. I have never seen this before, is it normal.
No, I'm sorry, I haven't asked IPSTAR, and I don't know how to use MS paint.
Happy New Year to everyone

In windows 10, you can press the Windows Logo + SHIFT + S on your keyboard to take a snapshot of your screen. Though you should obviously avoid snipping parts of your screen that might give away personal info.
or use sharex which is better with more features =)
i think aus gov passed the law on requiring ISP to log all user metadata , whatever that means …
What were the "few others"?
Percentage seems kinda low
they probably mean well but a monitoring breakdown sounds a bit invasive
Knowing, yes.
Exposing it to the end customer, not usually, but I guess this could be seen as a positive as they are being transparentYoure likely using their DNS hence they know every domain resolution lookup.
Want to hide it? Use an open DNS like CloudFlare or Google, and use a vpn all the time
I thought Peter Dutton had made it compulsory!
I switched to Optus Mobile and got a similar shock when it shows a similar data breakdown…

I think it's quite normal. Even banks now have this expense breakdown section. It's all done automatically.
Thanks very much, it was a shock. I must admit it doesn't feel so bad now.
Quite usual.
Your Internet Service Provider tracks what IP addresses you contact which means they know the web sites you're visiting.
