Have they been rendered unuseable by firmware like their other headphones?
Not allowed to say bad things about a golden child mate.
Worth upgrade from the sony 1000xm3?
Nope not even worth over Bose QC35II
I have the QC35II and it works like a beast
Yeah love mine too.
QC35s have the most comfortable headphones to date, especially for larger ears and breathability.
I wouldn't think there's that much difference between the two:

More comfortable than the 700?
Yes it is for improved call quality and comfort. Also I don't feel ear pressure from ANC on these. With the Sony's I do, but this might be subjective.
Sound is better with the Sony’s but I found them so uncomfortable to wear for long periods that I sold them.
Given I mainly use my Bose for podcasts and tv series I was happy to trade off the sound quality for comfort.
No way. Sony 1000XM3 is the number 1 ANC headphone.
Please define your definition of upgrade? Are you referring to portability? Sound quality? NC? Sony vs Bose each has their own strengths and weaknesses, and a simple yes and no would not suffice
Well…mainly sound quality
I know sony will win in portability
And i think they are almost the same in ncIt really depends on which fan boy you ask (lol) as I'm sure their respective response would differ, not to mention, subjective. I confess I didn't like Sony's sound to begin with but have since grown to it (esp with the last 360 sound firmware update), and vise versa with Bose. You will simply have to try it for yourself I'm afraid. As for NC, I would give a slight edge to Sony if you calibrate it probably, but once again, it's purely subjective talk.
@DonIsGood: @DonIsGood: *properly, not probably (bloody auto-correct lol)
@DonIsGood: Thank you
I guess I will give it a try@Amr911: Go to jbhifi and test em out yourself. That's what I did and went with Sony xm3
@agalea101: Did that…didnt notice much difference!
@Amr911: Then it comes down to what looks good to U! Personally I do like the black Bose and the weight of it is crazy light BUT can't deny the gold accents and premium look of the xm3
That's what put me over the line for XM3
@agalea101: And then the comfort of the qc35 :D
@Amr911: Haha then there's no other option. Go for the Bose but if there is a good 30 it 40 dialler difference then go for cheaper one cos I think the next gen is around the corner for these 2 close rivals bro
off-topic: Anyone knows when the next version of the Sony XM3 are coming out? Hopefully, we will see better prices when it does show up. Still loving my QC 25 - 4yrs on and works well with replaced ear cups
hopefully they add multi-device support, that's one of the most underrated features on the Bose
They did to the in-ear versions IIRC, so I'd imagine so :)
@deanylev: They DIDN’T to the in-ear version (WF-1000XM3).
@ak47wong: You're quite right, it seems I was mistaken :/
Shopback won't work with gift card iirc.
Great find OP! This is a great price for 700
Hopefully this will drop further for boxing day (fingers crossed)… i want one!! :)
I got one previously and returned it. I also had the Sony XM3 and sold it. The Bose wasn’t bad and the sound quality for my music listening was better than the XM3, but I value sound quality over ANC and ended up settling for a B&O H9i and recently added Sennheiser Momentum 3 as well. Both of those are on sale right now too.
Where are they on sale? I searched a few places and prices were high. the B&O are like $560.
$476 Delivered @ Amazon AU for “Natural” colour only.
Has been as low as $438 Delivered.hmm I was thinking on the same price point at QC35 II. the 700 is not worth it for the $489 as well.
@parallelparadox: B&O H9i is at a similar level to B&W PX which hit an all time low of $319.20 during Black Friday.
So I think it is possible for H9i to get to that price, but most likely during Black Friday (next year).
That's about $100 more than QC35 II.
Can anyone who has tried both compare them and is it worth the extra $100?
Try them yourself I suggest. NC and sound are similar. Style is (subjectively) better. I've heard the mic quality for calls is much improved, but haven't tested that.
i can't find anywhere that you can try them.
Really? That sucks. They've had them at all the JB-Hifi stores that I've been in - they've got stands with the QC35II, the NC700, and a Sony stand with the WH1000XM3. I don't know of any other stores that have similar setups, sorry.
Check this out for comparison

max ANC Sony 10:45 Bose 12:08
Call test Sony 9:54 Bose 9:18i was actually asking for a comparison to QC35 II, but this is helpful also. Thanks.
Thanks purchased - microphone quality on this thing has swayed me to buy
price in title needs to be excluding cashback
