[QLD] Pork Ribs $9.50/Kilo @ Woolworths, Brisbane

1080

not sure if Aus-wide

Don’t think I’ve seen this posted individually yet but it’s a bloody good price for pork ribs. Bought some for the hubby to try out his Aldi gas Smoker we purchased a few months back and they came out amazingly.

Mostly nice meaty ribs, some not so meaty but my store had above a dozen to sift through to find the best.

  • wow, really good deal. The cheapest I've found so far was $15/kg. Thk

  • They look like babybacks? Great deal!

    • The ribs of a hooved animal.

  • price change happens Tuesday mid night. curious how this deal starts on a Tuesday and not Wednesday (Friday due to public holidays)

    • Oops. Need to fix. It’s actually on sale now (assume it has been all week) until tomorrow sorry

      • Might be store/state specific. Still showing as $19/kg in NSW.

        • Same as VIC :(

These are never in stock online at my closest store.

    • It's one of those things I'd prefer to go and buy in person imo

  • I bought it at this price last week.
Cooked it last night. OKish amount of meat.
I wouldn't have bought it if it was full price.

Costco sell the more meaty ones but you pay an arm and a rib for them.

      • I might try it one day if I ever become a Costco member.

  • Correct price, but many stores show unavailable in Brisbane.

  • Mhmm mmmm mmmmm. Ribs !

    • When you sous vide, what do you mix it with?
      (Ie bbq sauce?)

      • +3

Half cup BBQ, half cup tomato sauce, quarter cup white vinegar and 5 fresh small chilies chopped up.

        Per rack

I use a dry rub for the sous vide, then use BBQ sauce for the finish.

  • I got 4 racks, really had to look for good ones though not meaty.

    • agree! I got one just to try but scrawny things, all bone and BA meat or even fat.

      Looks nothing like the photo

    • You're generally advised to get in an Uber.

      • No worries, how do you explain this

          Sorry for your loss

scored at Kenmore QLD they were further reduced to around 4.80 per kilo, cleaned the last 15 racks out!

    • Awesome! I’d have done the same. We picked up 7 racks (all the ones that felt really meaty haha) from Warner. They’ll freeze well for you if you don’t get through them all.

  • I got some last night - $12kg at my local in NSW

  • Per rack

    Is it Halal Certified?

    • I think you are onto something.

  • Who else read this title as “OLD” pork ribs at first glance….? Upon re-read, now I’m hungry….for cheap fresh ribs

Godamn it is a pain in the ass buying ribs and not getting a bunch of shiners.

Always cracks me up when the butcher is charging 15/kg for ribs for shiners, and like 12/kg for bacon. Like leave some meat on the ribs and then you'll make more money?

  • I actually googled ribs this morn and saw it was on special at Woolies. Went straight yo my local at Underwood and there were 8 racks on shelf. The worker said they just received a huge batch marked at $19.95 and prices are back up. It was last week’s special. We bought all 8 racks at $9.50 per kg. It was just over 500g per rack with around 8 ribs each.

    Bargain!

    • Careful you don't get porky, Broden.

    • Hi Sal78, if I am not mistaken do you run a cafe in Underwood area ? :)

  • $19.50 at local Woolies on Northern Beaches in Sydney with a worker saying they'll be on sale on Friday

  • Paid 25 per kg last week at papandreas….
