It’s the servers that OzBargain is run on.

    • Where are they hosted?

      • Sydney.

@1Kenobi: You can find it from this page:

            OzBargain is currently hosted on

            • Amazon S3 for thumbnail and uploaded files storage.
            • Binary Lane VPS in Sydney for the main site.

    Well probably several reasons.

The biggest one is likely SMH is full of images, videos and other media. It also has a lot of ads (I wouldn't know with adblocker). Also likely has quite a bit more traffic.

Basically the purpose of the two sites is vastly different and therefore they both have different things to display.

Wait. Is both Scotty and OzBargain a Chicka?

      • Its a Startrek reference, the negs I assume are from angered fans

    Lack of images and videos

  • But aren't there more active people on reddit? This would use more system resources.

    • They have way more money and people too

Censorship. Mods work hard on those here.

  • Premature Virtualisation

You obviously did not visit OzBargain during the Black Friday weekend.

  • Because the architecture doesn't have an ouch of Microsoft software (or hardware, aka Azure).

    • On a scale of 1 to 10, how much pain do you feel when using Microsoft software, with 1 being little to no pain at all and 10 being extreme pain?

      • it's a love hate relationship. Average it out it would probably be a 6. If I had my time again I would have been a Python, java, aws guy. Too late now.

        • Never too late
