SAMSUNG - SERIES 7 65" RU7100 4K UHD TV - UA65RU7100WXXY $995 (Expired)

Popped into Bing Lee to purchase this TV today. Advertised price is $1495. However, they told me it'd be on sale for $995 on Boxing Day. So they actually let me buy one today at that price.

Decent deal for the 65 inch Samsung 65RU7100 TV.

EDIT

  • David Jones have this same TV on sale for $949! This price will be available online from 24th Dec and in-store from 26th Dec.

Don't forget the 4% ShopBack cashback.

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2019

    • are there any cheap 75's in that catalogue ? would prefer a Samsung to the current bigW deal

      • +1

Unless things change, bigger TVs deal was a paradise during Black Friday with 82" high end TVs for the price of 65" and I am not talking about Kogan TV but Samsung :(

  • Bought 2, thanks op. One for living room, one for my bedroom

  • +2

I was Just in Harvey Norman Dandenong and they started stacking up the 75" and 65" for boxing day salesperson said should be cheaper than anywhere else on the day.

  • +1

Looks like there going big they stacked like 50 of each TV on the floor Guess Im going back boxing day to see.

In terms of the TV audio quality,
    Which brand is generally better?
Panasonic GZxxxx, LG Cx or Samsung Qx?

    • They are equally bad, get external speakers.

    • +2

Panasonic and Sony typically have better sound. But external speakers are the best way.

        Thanks guys :)

Waiting for a LG C9 65 OLED. Local Good Guys said wait till 26th but I doubt it with their back order list!

Why is this getting so much attention?

This is a TV I would never buy, the minimum I would suggest is the RU8000.

This is a very basic 4k TV. A big reason to get 4k is HDR, and this TV's implementation of it is very ordinary.

TCL and Hisense are better buys in this price range.

Sure you're getting a Samsung, but it's a shit model.

As someone who NEEDS a TV (don't have one at the moment), could you suggest reviews for me to check out?
Basically my budget is $1,000 and I need to get something on the boxing day sale.

Your post is the kind of thing that worries me but the LG 65um7400pta is also listed for $1,049. Is that a better buy?

I haven't purchased a TV for 10 years and it's very hard to decipher everything. I've gone in store and I know that OLED looks much better but then it's a cycle of oh maybe I could spend a bit more and get an OLED — but then burn-in issues, or maybe I can spend a bit more and get a 65" and it seems like there's so many options and brands nowadays. There's no clear way to tell models within brands apart.

Does it basically just go backlit, edgelit, local dimming, more local dimming and then OLED (size going in there as well)?

You then have to deal with models from previous years..

      • I bought one of these around Black Friday for around the same price.

Firstly - the quality blows my 10+ year old 55” plasma out of the water, chances are it’ll be a big upgrade for you too.

Secondly I was also worried if it’d be any good given the reviews all say it’s an entry level model. But to me it looks great, and better than what I saw in the store after I spent some time calibrating picture settlings. Go here as a starting point and tweak to your preference https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ru7100/settings

Third I’m actually pretty happy with the sound. I’m not into blasting my tv or subwoofers or the like. But whilst I’d have to sometimes put subtitles on my old tv because voices weren’t clear, I totally don’t have those issues with this one.

Maybe enthusiasts will find this TV lacking for the reasons detailed in the tech reviews but for casual use I’m really happy with my purchase.

Also I think there is a deal for the Samsung at $899 now (I still wouldn't buy it)

  • Do they usually do a 20% coupon code for eBay/BL for Boxing Day?

  • Shit I bought this for 1200 at bing lee during black friday sales!

Wish I had cc price insurance right about now.

(It seems only delivery is available as of today online, can use it to price match at JB etc I guess!)

    • Any idea how to get the correct price to show up? Says $1699 for me on the 65'' link, I thought the sale started today?

      • you're right!

weird thing is when i looked this morning (and added the links) price was $949 for 65" but it wouldnt let me checkout or get shipping quote…

They price matched it for me.

        Happy days..

Still haven't opened the box yet though, just in case they come up cheaper elsewhere tomorrow - in which case, I'll just refund, repricematch and rebuy. lol

  • samsung smart hub vs android tv? (on this particular model im seeing reviews saying the navigation menu is slow
any other 65' on boxing day under 1200 that would be worth looking at?

  • this vs https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sony-65-inches-x7000g-4k-uhd-… ??? 1095 i dont mind paying 145 more for something better, how does the 4k up scaling compare and menu speed (processor)

  • Best BD sale buys are usually the end of a great range, only certain stores have them in stock, so hit & miss. Crazy what you can get sometimes.

Happy holidays to those who observe, and happy long weekend for those so fortunate,

  • can anyone recommend the Sony 65-inch X80G over this one? its $1295 at HN, JB and bing lee but it seems that it sold for 1199 last month at myer. it has android tv but as far as the picture quality and smoothness and upscalling goes how do they compare? is it worth the extra $?

  • Who has the better delivery service?

Someone I can confirm a day with and hopefully can call me when they are not far away so I can be home to receive the item?

  • Local HN would not price match DJ as they couldn’t pull it up online. Hopefully DJ update their website within the next few days to get HN to apply the difference.

  • Noticed David Jones put this price back to $949 on their website this morning (it was full price when we looked yesterday). Looks like it’s online orders only which adds $55 delivery to the cost. Just popped in to our local JB who had stock and matched the $949 price and we picked it up on the spot. We were having buyers regret over missing this deal but luckily got another chance!
