Looks like the Aldi bike… Very tempting

The Aldi bike is a good deal but has V brakes and through our experience you burn through them very quickly and need to replace constantly! (We moved away from V brakes and onto Tektro disk brakes a while ago)

      • Have to agree . ive had cheap disc brakes before and there better then even the best of the other 2 type of brakes

Hmm, compared to Leitner: no throttle, no suspension, and no battery upgrade option. But a bit cheaper than Leitner.

    • throttle is illegal in oz
suspension just adds weight, doesn't help ride

      • I've seen e-bikes for sale with throttle though. I'm quite confused with the laws in vic. Also what are the odds of getting pulled over and checked if your bike has a throttle. Whats the best site to get one of these?

      • throttle is illegal in oz

No, it's not, at least up to 6 km/h (which is still very helpful, e.g. for taking off from a stand-still on a slope with a kid on the back). e.g. from QLD:

At speeds of 6km/h and below, the electric motor can operate without the rider pedalling, to assist with initial take off.

Whats the best site to get one of these?

Best I've found so far is https://leitner.com.au/

If I buy from Perth, do you ship pre-assembled bike or I need to assemble it here? Thank you.

    • So you will need to assemble in Perth but the bike comes mainly assembled already. It is matter of just putting the front wheel on and handle bars.

      Thanks

Can I legally ride one of these on bike paths in NSW and take it with me when commuting on the Sydney Metro/Light Rail?
I am interested in riding on Sydney bike paths on the M7, in the city, Parramatta and Homebush?
    Thanks

It's treated like push bike since the motor is <=250 watts, so you can legally ride on roads and bike paths. I took my bike on train a couple of times, but would not recommend doing this during peak hour. Not sure about Metro, and most certainly you can't take it on Light Rail (you'll be faster on the bike, anyway)

    • You can but as discussed I wouldn't do it during peak hour and I think it would be quicker to ride it that use the light rail.
      Thanks
      Conrad

      • By the way, what are "puncture free CST" tyres. Are they solid rubber or something?

  • +2

+1 because it's an ebike deal that's legal in Vic

  • Is the “+” different to the $750 deal that you posted a few months back? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/487316

  • Would the bike fit one of these kids seats? https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31lIaVfIFRL…
