Anyone Has Experience with Charles Darwin University or Know This University?

Hi Ozbargainers,

I'm an international student and considering to study Master of IT (Data Science) at Charles Darwin University because I can get 50% scholarship from this university. But as my research this university has a bad reputation (just like many other universities because people only write reviews when they have bad experiences). According to Times ranking CDU was top 300 university in the world on 2017 but dropped to 600 recently and I have no idea what happened. Anyone knows this university and has idea how good/bad is this university?

    I was enrolled for a similar reason (scholarship). Overall I was not a fan of their student system, it was far less user friendly than UNE for distance education.

    Will you be living in Darwin?

    Edit: forgot to add, they did have a student study centre in Sydney which was great as it was always quiet.

    If you're worried about whether you will get a job after graduating from a quote unquote 'dodgy uni'…

    After statistical controls for various personal attributes, years of work experience and course studied, the Grattan HILDA study found that what type of university a person attended did not make much difference to whether or not a person had a job. This echoes the four months out results.

    It is a clear ratings winner for Universities based in the Northern Territory.

    I don't believe the scholarship part. They are one of the pay-for-place universites.

        :p It's easier to call it a scholarshipship than a fee discount to fill places. Prestigious Universities in Victoria and NSW offer full fee payment and money on top to high achieving students. Half fee scholarships at lesser universities still want your money.

    if you are an international student and trying to learn something cutting edge in Darwin, i'm afraid you are in the wrong place. Australia is just an end user of IT. Australia can't even implement NBN properly.

    your money is better spent in other countries. what IT research are you trying to do?
