    • +2

White-tail - Ice cream on the bottom and coke on top!

  • +1

I just went there before, they said run out 😭

    • Of slurpee?

      • Probably the ice cream bars you put in there

  • I'd anyone sees sugarfree guava in any Vic stores please lemme know. Been craving it lately

  • Whys the pic some sort of bar?

    • +1

a "spider" is ice cream with coke, picture is of an ice cream bar.

  • +4

Note: Ice cream is free, Slurpee is not

I just got the ice cream

    • +4

It's kind of misleading. The banner says "Free Large Slurpee Spider" which indicates a large Slurpee with the ice cream, otherwise there is no point of putting "large" in the banner as the ice creams are all one size.

      • +1

Yer ikr, went into the store and they said I had to buy the Slurpee to get it free. Wasted my petrol lol

        • They have to scan the Ice cream barcode, then your app.

      • After a lot of arguing back & forth & pointing out the FREE LARGE SLURPEE clearly stated on the app i finally got mine ALL for FREE

    • +3

      Same here. Deliberate misleading advertising

    • -1

You're wrong. It clearly even specifies the size of the Slurpee.
I got mine just fine, by the way.

      • You got the drink and icecream bar both for free?

        • Yeah that's right. Though they processed it after I left.

          • +1

@Sage: Where's this? Name and proclaim the store

            • +1

@InfraRed: Near Flagstaff. I didn't have the icecream packet barcode so they went to get one and told me twice it's fine I don't have to stick around.
              They're pretty chill there.

          • @Sage: Processed after leaving? Even if they learned what to do they can't call you back for a dollar lol

      • Exactly… IT DID…. But I got told it was only the Ice Cream for free & i had to pay for Slurpee… After a lot of arguing back & forth & pointing out the FREE LARGE SLURPEE clearly stated on the app i finally got mine ALL for FREE… But when stores are adding 1x slurpee & 1x ice cream to its register, scanning the voucher & its only ice cream that's coming off the total price then is definitely misleading advertising

    • +10

Make the Slurpee, then grab the Ice Cream and get to the counter, if they refuse to give you the Slurpee just leave the Slurpee there and get the Ice Cream.

      • +2

I ended up doing exactly this. I even show them the term and condition explicily state that it include slurpee spider ice cream and a large slurpee. The attendant told me that if he scan each item and the voucher and it does not become free he have to charge me for it. I didn't want to stand there and argue with him so i just took the ice cream and left.

For anyone interested, there was the same deal last year and they insist on charging me the $1. I contacted head office and they send me an appology and promise they will train their staff better (that clearly didn't happen).
For what it is worth though they did gave me $5 credit in my 7/11 account. So if you were deny, try your luck and contact their head office. You might get a free $5 which is way better than the $1 Slurpee.

Here is 7/11 contact link: https://www.7eleven.com.au/contact-us

Make sure you use the same email address as the one you register your 7/11 account with so the can credit it there.

Edit: I still got the email

That was from this deal in January, not last year.

        • Thanks for the tip! Will try emailing them and see what they say

          • @swanzilla: They are going to get a lot of emails from Ozbargainer's who have read the T&Cs and understand it more than their staff.

          • @swanzilla: They gave me $2 this time lol. Cheapen bastard, last time they try to charge you 50c for the slurpee and compensate with $5, now they try to charge $1 and only give you $2.

            • @highdealer: They gave me $0, and closed my case without any further interaction.

              • @t25: Geez how rude lol. They did confirm to me that it was supposed to be a full Slurpee spider, not just the ice cream bar.

At the bottom of their reply, should give you an option to reject their resolution or re-open your case if you want.

            • @highdealer: Oh same here! Finally received a reply saying they have topped up my account with $2, plus a little something extra for the inconvenience. Opened up my app but I can’t see anything “extra” other than the $2 😅

    • +4

      Voucher Terms:

Offer only available to Registered Users. -Offer includes Slurpee Spider Ice Cream and Large Slurpee. -Single use offer which expires on redemption or by 11:59pm 18/12/19. Not valid with any other promotions. Range may vary by store.

So just show them the voucher terms if they won't give you the free Slurpee (tap the info button above the barcode for terms)

      • The attendant put it through as a large slurpee and not a spider. The voucher doesn't scan when the product ID doesn't match up. Had to pay the $1

        • Was also made to pay $1. Yeah, it's only $1 but it's frustrating having a stand-off at the counter because the service person won't honour the T&C's of the promotion.

      • Damn, didn't see the terms and conditions section. Nice and hidden. They charged me $1 saying it was only the ice cream even though I said then why does it say 'free large slurpee spider' and not just free slurpee spider ice cream with large slurpee.

    • +2

Wrong. Click the information on the top right, it clearly says in the terms and conditions that the ice cream AND a large Slurpee is included. Don't let them tell you otherwise.

Edit: As per Smogul's comment above.

      • I tried that at two stores, one franchise and one corporate. Both would NOT honour the terms.

  • +3

    Just went to 2 stores.

    Broadway: “never seen this before”.

George Street: “no we don’t have it”.

    • Did you check the fridge?

      • I had a quick look at the time. All I could see was drinks.

There was a separate fridge with ice cream in the Broadway store, and another fridge for the ice for the iced coffee etc., but I couldn't see the ice cream for the slurpee spider in any of those places, besides the usual stuff.

The George St store doesn't seem to have an ice cream section?

I also looked in the area around the slurpee machines in both stores, just in case - not there either.

Happy to be corrected re: any of the above!

        • I mean the freezer section, but yeah that's weird they don't have it.

  • Carrington street said closest one that has it is Clarence street.

  • Is it a icecream that we grab from fridge or a large slurpee?

    • Yeah and they scan the icecream's barcode so hold onto the wrapper.

      • do they give the ice cream, or we gotta grab it ourselves, from where?

  • Is it a free Large Slurpee and a Slurpee Spider ?

    • It would seem a free Lge Slurpee with Slurpy cream

  • First 7 Eleven I went to didnt have the spider. Second 7 Eleven had the spider but the Slurpee machine was broken. So just got the spider and ate it like an ice cream lol

But the man indicated its meant to come with the slurpee, not just the ice cream bit.

    • so did u just grab the spider from 2nd store

      • Yep! It's fine as a vanilla ice cream snack :)

  • +1

The ice cream is in the freezer along with all the other ice creams (seperate to where the keep the ice cream tubs). It's meant to go with the slurpee otherwise it's just a plain old vanilla ice cream

    • +1

Mine tried to charge me $1 for it. I left it behind as I wasn’t in the mood to argue diner details.

      • do i have to put the ice cream in? or can be separate

        • Seperate is fine

    • I thought the deal was only for the ice cream, so took the bar and eat it earlier today, lol. Didn’t read the details, only saw ice cream picture

      • The picture of the ice cream even says that it's for a slurpee spider. And not a slurpee with a literal spider in it either lol

  • The store I went to had run out of ice creams but I still got the large slurpee free. Attendant initially thought it was just the ice cream free but I showed him the terms and he agreed.
Saw this post after having claimed…

  • Didn't want the slurpee so just grabbed the ice cream from the Druit St store

  • +4

If they say the slurpee is not for free show them the terms and conditions. I got to the car and checked and went and got my $1 back.

    • +3

      That's dedication

  • +3

Shop attendant charged me $1 for the L slurpee no probs, HSBC 2% Cashback.
Then hit them up with the ts and cs got my $1 back, Easy money

  • +2

Idiot charged me a dollar, he was claiming that the spider (ice cream) is free, not the large slurpee with it. Wtf??? It's shown on the deal in the app the ice cream plus slurpee and it says LARGE spider slurpee. There no sizes in the spider ice cream itself. What an idiot and he's not new at that station.

    • Same, bought one from 7/11 Perth and the guy claimed it was just the ice cream that was free?

    • Almost every store seems to try it, and blame the POS system for it.

  • Only the icecream included. They tried to scan with the large slurpee but it would still cost $1.

  • In flinders store they scanned it and it didn’t work and they just said they don’t know why but hard luck

  • +4

Too much trouble. Went to a store in the city to grab my free spider and he slipped me an injured Daddy Longlegs he'd been stashing in the cash register.

I spent ages explaining to him that Daddy Longlegs are in fact Opiliones, which unlike spiders have a compact oval-shaped body, but he just stared at me.

    • eh i thought you meant there was a strand of hair in there, smh

    • I would've demanded a fresh huntsman. Better bang for buck

  • +1

Me, knowing the shitstorm that would prevail by experiencing last year didn't bother. Turns out that's probably a good move.

  • How much is Spider Slurpee normally?

    • Pretty sure it's a buck or two extra on top of the cost of your slurpee.

      • I'd like to know exactly.
$1 Slurpee already good value compared to other available "frozen drinks", even if clerk fails to scan.
I wouldn't mind paying an extra buck for the icecream either on any hot day. But if two bucks Imma pass

    • Showed up as $1.50 on the till before the voucher zeroed it

      • exxy
Edit: just the spider cream $1.50 right? Not altogether

  • +3

DONT PAY $1….terms says its included. I called their support and apparently they are aware of the issue and told the store to give it to me for free.

    • were you on the phone in front of them..? how long to connect

      • +1

        Yeah. Was about 5mins wait

  • Was just told "No".

    No explanation whatsoever.

  • -1

Got a second one, no issues.
Only needed to scan the app barcode.

    • unlimited use?

      • Edit, TnC says single use..

        • on Android you can use Secure Folder and or Parallel Space to run another instance of the app and log in with another account.
(It's been like this for years with the 7 Eleven freebies)

          • @Sage: Just hit a store 30mins ago and got it.

I closed app. Opened again after while, and still saw Barcode there.

Tried my luck to use it again at 2nd store unfortunately/apparently that particular store doesn't stock the Spider vanilla bar :(

            • @capslock janitor: You can get 2 or 3 Pepsis today (Thursday) with my trick.
Bit of a hassle to set you the extra apps but worth it in my opinion.

The barcode is supposed to disappear after you've used it. It's definitely single use.

              • @Sage: I checked 11pm the Spider offer was still in app.
I wonder if I could just do same thing with fre Pepsis without need of app duplication

  • Got both free.
    Thanks OP and 7-11
