non removable lens cover? epic fail.
Get the official rollcage and stop whinging, https://gopro.com/en/au/shop/mounts-accessories/rollcage/AJF…
Dont be quick to crucify nicknoaware.
I bought it from GoPro direct, tried it out and decided to return it for the same reason, non removable lens cover.
Yes, I did know it didnt have a non removable lens cover when I purchased it. I thought id be able to get around it with a screen/lens glass protector. But i just couldn't convince myself that i could use this "action camera" to its full potential without the fear of cracking the lens on a $500 camera rendering it permanently useless.
I have decided to stick with my GoPro Hero 7 black. I actually thought the footage looked better on the 7 black. Yes, hypersmooth 2.0 is good but that's about it. Hopefully they will realize their error and go back to removable lens cover on the version 9.
PS: On a side note, Had a terrible time getting GoPro to refund my purchase $$$ even after sending it back well within their '30 day money back guarantee' time period. Had to do a paypal claim to get my money back, GoPro kept claiming they had refunded me but didnt send anything through.
If you guys are still keen to buy though, I would certainly recommend buying off this deal from The Good Guys and not GoPro direct, speaking from my terrible experience with GoPro returns.
Please feel free to neg away if you dont agree :DHere's hoping there's a deal on the hero 7 black for about $350.
Bundle is OOS
How does this compare with the GoPro 6 Black? Worth the upgrade?
Gopro Hero 6 does not have Hypersmooth. This one has the updated hypersmooth 2.0.
Definitely worth the upgrade.Audio capture is much improved as well
GoPro are great, I got an insta360 One X instead as I wanted something that did a lot more than my phone camera. Might be worth investigating. Extra steps when it comes to editing though is the only down side. Stabilisation is off the chart awesome though.
What's the battery like
Bought MAX in last 20% off of TGG eBay sales.
how did you find it? Easy enough to edit clips etc.? I'm on the fence with it - great price though
Quite intuitive.
And gopro app does create a video compilation automatically with your clips
damn i missed the deal :(
Nice deal. The first two Hero8 Blacks they sent me were faulty though, so make sure to record when you test it underwater. Fingers crossed for the third one.
What happened? Did it not record underwater?
Water went into the lense on the first dive. Second GoPro just did not seem sealed up well around the lense and had a 1mm gap when pulled slightly., and they asked me to sent a video and send it back.
At what depth were U filming?
@chew_chew: 2m without the case. Specs are rated to 10m.
@bboarder: Oh wow… Hopefully your third one is fine!
Thanks OP. Best deal yet.
Would you guys recommend I upgrade from GoPro6 Black to the GoPro8 Black ?
Use it for mainly high altitude mountain climbing, snowboarding. Sometimes dirt bike riding.definitely, the stabilisation alone justifies the upgrade from the 6. I went from the 5 to the 8 - chalk and cheese.
All the old accessories will work just fine.
Just found Amazon AU has the same price for the Black too $436
https://www.amazon.com.au/GoPro-CHDHX-801-RW-HERO8-Black-CHD…
I'm just trying to figure out where to get it, here is my working out. I think I have it right.
TGG -
Price - $436
Cash Rewards (1%)- $4.36
TRS 10% (Based on original receipt price of $545) - $54.50Total from TGG - 436 - 4.36 - 54.50 = $377.14
Amazon -
Price - $436
Cash Rewards (7%) - $30.52
TRS 10% (based on advertised price of $436) - $43.60Total from Amazon - 436 - 30.52 - 43.60 = $361.88
I think I have calculated it correctly.
That looks pretty good to me, though I have a feeling cash rewards is on the gst excl amount.
"• Cashback is paid on eligible purchases, excluding shipping/delivery, taxes and GST."Also, eBay doesn't look like there will be any cash back from cash rewards based on the following criteria:
"Cashback is ineligible if discount coupons or promo codes are applied to any transaction."So the cash rewards for Amazon may be
$436 / 1.1 * .07 = $27.75Sports is 7%, but electronics and accessories are 3.5%, not sure how you'd check that the GoPro would be 7%.
I'd also post that deal if I were you.
Ok I am going to have a go at posting it up I just purchased from Amazon.
GoodGuys local store said they would hapilly match it in store.
JBHifi local store then also matched it and I ended up getting it from them for $636, down from $799 - obviously better deals available with cashback and pricebeat but this may be helpful for those who, like me, wanted one quickly.I don't need this, but I bought one.
Bought one with bundle, click and collect, thanks OP.
