No need to activate automatic prepaid credit re-newel to get this bonus 10GB data?

If not that's a first for these types of bonus prepaid offers for Telsta and Vodafone lately then.

    • +1

Got it yesterday and display shows data as 35gb - no need to buy anything for extra 15gb …. yay
      makes the deal very good.

      • Great news. Looks like a decent modem. Can you put this model into a Cradle?

Not that I have ever done that myself but also interested in that concept and seems to work well for adding extra

features such as in some cases, charging/extra range/on Off power switch/Lan Out which can be handy features.

  • hi ops
is this modem locked or unlocked to telstra network ? if locked, how much does it cost to unlock if i want to use with other networks ? Thanks

    • +2

      Locked to Telstra.
      Unlock fee is $80

  • Is this unlockable and what bands are supported?

    • +3

      unlock fee is $80.

      3G network 850/2100MHz
      4G network FDD 2100(B1),1800(B3), 2600(B7), 900(B8), Full APT 700(B28)

  • Once unlocked (presumably cheaply via ebay/FB), will this show the data usage info from another network provider on the LCD screen or is that feature specific to Telstra?

    • +3

Not sure about this model, but when I use Netgear 810 or 790, it only show data usage info wjhen putting Telstra SIM in it, putting SIMs from other provider does not show anything.

So I guess the feature is specific for Telstra.

Thanks. It's no upgrade from my existing MF910V then.

Hi, just a FYI, I could only buy this online using a credit card - pay pal option didn't work.
Tried in store and they wouldn't give me the deal.
Now the wait for modem to arrive.

I had no trouble buying this in store for $99 today. Only forgot ID, which mean a second trip to the shop.

Does this work as a router? Can the 20devices talk to each other? I.e can it be used for Google home etc

    • If you scroll down to the features tab is only mentions 10 devices!

      • Yeah it's Telstra being lazy and not updating the spec sheet.
Got it yesterday and it's definately the ZTE MF985T - 20 devices.
I dont know enough about routers but there is some info in the download docs here:

        http://www.ztemobiles.com.au/MF985T.htm

  • would this work as a good option for a laptop/mobile broadband solution, if I had 1 x device (laptop) working off it and plugged in via laptop USB all the time, would it keep enough power or would the device discharge quicker than the power source charging it?

    • From the manual;
"During periods of high continuous activity with multiple users, high download
rates or low network signal, charging by USB will not have sufficient current to
charge the device. In this situation the battery will discharge so it is preferable
      to use the mains charger."
